For most people, just the word discipline carries with it a negative connotation. People think that discipline means they will have less freedom.

This is far from the truth.

There is no personal freedom, financial freedom or any other freedom in life without it.

You can’t lack discipline in one part of your life and expect to have it in another. It has to flow through everything that you do.  You can start with the small things and work up to it.

If you take a look at any successful person, any athlete or top performing executive, they have most likely disciplined themselves in many areas of their life. It is the very core of every martial art in the world for a reason.

I know for a fact that I feel that freedom everyone of the 6 days that I am either in the  gym or running. I am in complete control of whether I push one more rep, run one more mile, do one more set of stairs.  It all comes through discipline. I own that time. It’s mine and no one can take it away from me.

If your trying to build a business outside of your career to hopefully one day replace your job income but your slacking at your job, don’t expect to outproduce your job income in business.  You can’t be a slouch during the day and a rockstar at night.

First, there is no integrity in that and second, you are living an out of balanced life and it will eventually bite you in the ass.

You see, we live in a culture in which people naturally avoid pain and gravitate towards pleasure.  Sometimes being disciplined is painful because you are going against the grain of what most people do.

To have what most people will never have, your going to have to do what most are not willing to do.  You are going to have to get very uncomfortable.

There is nothing wrong with it and you will thank yourself later.  Future generations of your family will thank you for being disciplined in life.

The Road To Success

Part of Being a Success in life requires doing things that you don’t always feel like doing. The Alarm went off this morning at 5:15am like it does every day Monday Thru Friday. I was very warm in bed, my wife next to my side and the last thing I wanted to do was slip out of the covers put on my gym clothes and hit the cardio deck and the weight room.

Over the years I have gotten to know myself pretty well.  Over the previous years, procrastination had kept me from obtaining a lot of my goals, dreams and desires.  There were many days that the alarm went off and I either “snoozed it to death” or never made it to the gym.  I made excuses like, “I’ll just go tommorow and work out extra hard” or “I will make up for it over the weekend”.

You see, I was only cheating myself.  You know why? Because tomorrow is the day you were supposed to do the things you promised yourself your were going to do the day before. In other words tomorrow never comes.

Being that all of my work is done from the comfort of my own home, it’s real easy to slack off sometimes.  But I learned over the years that I was not going to take excuses from myself.  I made a self-pact long ago, never to put off what can be done right now. I have always belonged to a gym for as long as I can remember.

As I have gotten older (37), I make it a point to take care of myself.  Being successful is not just about big houses , fancy cars and a bank account full of cash.  It is more about how you feel on the inside and how you show on the outside.  I make it a point to eat right, take awesome suppliments, work out and get plenty of sleep.

I mean what good is it if you live a long life, are not constrained by time or money, and your body falls apart because of neglect.  No good right?

I guess the point I am trying to get across here is get uncomfortable. Do the things that you know you should be doing and do it with a great attitude. Even if your not into going to the gym, get up and take a walk around the neighborhood.  I heard once that walking resets your body’s cells. It’s like the refresh button on your browser.  It makes everything ok.
