Whether you know it or not, EVERYTHING you have, do and say has to do with the way you think.  We all have this inner voice that speaks to us on a daily basis.  To truly achieve network marketing success, we have to be very conscience of that voice and what we allow it to tell us.

The voice will either empower or quite frankly take away our power.

What story are you playing over and over in your head about why you can or cannot do certain things.  Think about the things in your business that you know you should be doing to get results but your not doing them because you have tried them before and didn’t get the results you are looking for or….. Things just keep getting in your way of completing the task.

We all go through these things in Network/Internet Marketing/MLM or whatever business we are in.

The most powerful thing you can do to change all of this is to change your internal and external dialog. When you are speaking with people are you using words like try, hope, want, need, should, can’t, won’t, hard or tough?  These are all words of dis-empowerment. These words will keep you from your god given blessings and hold you back from achieving your full potential.

Starting today, be more conscience of what your thinking about and the story that your telling yourself and others.  Starting today, start telling yourself a different story – one of empowerment, courage, dignity, loyalty and doing what you say your going to do, when you say your going to do it.

A great way to change the way you think is to start a serious 30 minute a day reading regiment.  A great book for you is “What to say when you talk to yourself” by Shad Helmstetter . This book will change your life, but… Like anything else, you have to commit to reading it.

The mind is a very powerful part of our body’s and yet we hardly come close to using its full potential.  To achieve the success you came  to the network marketing industry for, you are going to have to work on you more then you work on your business.  It’s become so clear to me over the years that without constant work on myself, I don’t stand a chance in the long haul.

It doesn’t matter how many leads you generate or how many people you talk to on the phone each day about their interest in business, if your not a CLOSER, you will never make any money in this industry.

Most MLM’ers or Network Marketers are so concerned with generating leads that they forget about the most important part of the business.  How do I know this is the case?  Because that was me.  I had no idea what closing was.  It’s a skill that has to be developed.

It is the LETHAL WEAPON in business and those who have this skill HAVE THE POWER!

In Network marketing, your product is not really your product.  Whether your selling vitimins, super juice, gold, silver or info products, it makes no difference.  Your product is people.

Your not paid to move product, your paid to move people that move products. With that said, do you think you should concentrate on all the awesome benefits and features of your product with your prospect or should you concentrate on people.

I think its a no brainer.

Most network marketers spend 90% of their time trying to figure out how to generate leads and drive traffic.  They spend $0 on courses that teach you about sponsoring and recruiting.  If you want to become successful in this business, your going to have to open up your wallet and start increasing your skill sets.  A really killer course to learn the skill of recruiting and sponsoring is Black Best Recruiting.

I find it humorous that people will shell out tens of thousands of dollars for a college education, but when it comes to spending a few thousand on a information product to help increase their skill sets, all the sudden 2 grand seems like a lot of money. Really?  College teaches you how to think.  Online courses especially involving our industry in network/internet marketing teaches you how to make money.  Which would you rather have?

Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself.  Your the only asset that can never decrease in value.

 

 

 

I can remember it like it was yesterday.  I had just gotten started in network marketing and boy was I fired up.  I thought that by noon tomorrow I would have a huge organization and all of my friends and family were getting in and I was going to make all of this money.

Boy was I wrong!

In fact, it was just the opposite.  Not only did none of them get in, but they started avoiding me like the plague.  When I think back to that time, who could blame them.

You see, I had no real value to offer them.  Sure the products and services were great, just not for them.  I was pitching and selling instead of story telling.  I continued to try to impress people with my newly found business, however struggled for 3 years and had nothing to show for it, monetarily anyways.

Fast forward to today, it’s a whole other story.  I found a totally different approach to how I do business and instead of trying to impress people, I like to just give away my best stuff for nothing.

That’s right.  Nada.

I eventually learned that my compensation would be in direct proportion to the amount of value that I provided the world around me.  Once I “Got IT!”, it changed my world.  I had people chasing me, rather then me chasing them.

I also learned that I didn’t have to be anyone but myself.  Sure there were some rough edges I had to smooth out by reading and applying some knowledge I got out of a few GREAT books.  I was and still am willing to change to become the person god intended and intends me to be.

Ok, enough of the use of “I” in this post.  Let’s talk about YOU!

Where ever you are in life is EXACTLY where you are supposed to be.  If your broke, no worries.  If your well off, that’s great too.  You have to understand that where ever you are and however you got there is all part of the journey, so embrace it.

Where a lot of people blow it is in thinking that they have the latest and greatest network marketing opportunity on the planet.  There are literally thousands of great opportunities and it’s not one size fits ALL.  People are not looking for opportunities, they are looking for LEADERS.

So what does that mean for you?

It means that until you become the leader that people are looking for, the people who could have been in your business will end up in a leaders business.  Don’t worry though, you have plenty of time to become the leader you were meant to be.

While a lot of people are out there trying to figure out how to make a living online, there are others that just concentrate on building lasting relationships with people.

When someone says they are not ready to join you in business, sometimes it’s an excuse and other times there are external factors going on that you may not know about, so always give people the benefit of the doubt.  Below is a Facebook message from a Norwegian that I had talked with almost a year ago.

I don’t know if you remember me, but I “almost” signed up for the internet marketing-stuff in october 2009. We wrote a few times and decided it wasn’t the time for me because of studies, work and that my wife has ms (multiple sclerosis).

And now you just some how added me on facebook so I thought I had to send you a little message
I”m done with my studies, graduated in may and things are easy with work. And me and my wife are having our first baby in about five weeks! I’m so exited!
Because of my wife’s disease, and because we live in awesome Norway, I get to be home with her and the baby for one year. Payed So I will have a lot of time!
So when the first rush with the baby is over, and I get to sleep through the night again, I’m ready to start with the program!

I have a weeping Japanese Maple tree in my back yard in which there has been a birds next up there for a few years.

My family and I have had the privilege of watching the building of the nest, the laying of the eggs and the life cycle of those three eggs all the way up to the day they were strong enough to take flight.

When those eggs hatch, that mother has to constantly be hunting for food to bring back to the nest and breaks up the food in her mouth and then feeds it to her chicks.  Without her, they are helpless.  They cant even move much for the first week or so.

I correlate those birds to people who are just getting started in business, especially online business.

At first we are helpless and initially looking to get enough nourishment in the beginning of our careers, to move to the next level.  In our case, you should have a mentor.  Someone who can feed you the knowledge to get yourself started on the right foot.

You need to lay a solid foundation before you do anything.  Solid foundations in anything will stand the test of time.  The mother bird doesn’t just drop her eggs anywhere.  She meticulously places each branch and piece of straw together to form the nest in which she is going to lay her eggs.  She built the foundation first.

Over the first month of the chicks life, they are solely dependent.  Over time, they gain enough strength to start flapping their wings.  They do this for about a week, strengthening their wing muscles.

The coolest thing is watching these little birds taking their first leap of faith. Never having flown before, they literally take flight for the first time and make it happen.  There is no test flights as failure is a pretty high drop right to the ground.

One thing I also noticed is that during that week right before the young ones flew off, the mother would show them how to take off for their flight.  She would take off, turn around and come right back, showing her young how its done.  Truley an amazing process to watch.

Now, taking a look at how we learn how to become successful, we take in knowledge and apply that knowledge.  At first we need some tending to.  You may spend more time in the beginning engulfed in learning the basics and being coachable, teachable and trainable.

At some point your going to have to be able to take off on your own and create your own success without having that crutch (your mentor) at your side all of the time.

True leaders have the windburn on their face and lead from the front.  They are not afraid to take calculated risk, knowing that every time they fail, they really succeed.

A lot of people correlate failure to something that is bad.  Failure is the best teacher of success, granted you learn from the mistakes made and move forward.

Today there are over 60 million people around the globe in the network marketing industry. Why?  Because it has offered people hope, a future and the ability to dream again.

Hope

Somewhere along the way people have forgotten about the things that are most important to them and have traded those things in for what I like to call “The Big Lie”.  The big lie is taught from a very young age.  Go to school, get an education and go to work for a large corporation. Then work your ass off for the next 50 years and you should have enough to retire comfortably.  How many people do you know that this has happened for?

If you have been in the workforce for any number of years, you know how it gets.  Your company wants you to do more work for the same pay.  Eventually people lose hope for a better future and after a number of years of the same old, in the same position, looking forward to their 2-4 weeks of vacation every year with a 3-5% increase in pay.  What a joke.

I am not down on jobs, I am down on corporations keeping their board of directors pockets fat while the very people who make everything happen on the front lines are losing their homes, cars and marriages.

There is no leverage when you have someone else signing your paycheck.  I think that is why people are drawn to the network marketing industry.   For the doubter who reads this, here is what I have to say, “Are you calling 60 million people idiots?”  Network marketing is often stereotyped because you knew someone who knew someone who never made any money.  What about me?  What about the thousand plus people I personally know that are making money in the industry?

Are we lucky?  Did we get in at the top of the pyramid?  I almost have to laugh at some of the things I hear sometimes.

Let me just tell you. When you are limited to what you can create in a 24 hour period, you are limited!  Every successful person as well as company has learned time compounding and how to burst past the 24 hour day through leveraging the efforts of other people. A team if you will.  The only difference is, when your working for someone elses team (A corporation), you are doing all the work and they are making all of the money. There is no hope there.

Your Future

For those serious about creating a future for themselves, network marketing provides an even playing ground for everyone.  There is no luck, there is only desire backed by lots of action and education.  The old school model of creating a future by going to school and educating yourself on how to become an employee is broke.  People go down that route because they are conditioned to want other people telling them what to do for a paycheck.  It’s comfortable.

Folks these days play it safe rather than take risk.  Nothing good ever comes about without risk.  Let me ask you if there is any risk in the person that clocks in and out or is on a salary and has to report to work.  Not much.  Now lets take a look at a real estate agent who works solely on commissions.  A little riskier right?  It’s the same thing in network marketing except you get to build a team of people you want to work with.  You get to create your own mastermind group of people who are sold out to their future instead of someone elses.

The Dream

Everyone has big dreams, however, somewhere along the way the dreams seem to get farther away from people and they end up settling for a life they were not supposed to be living.  They get caught up in the two steps forward and two steps back syndrome.  Why is it that people cant get ahead of living paycheck to paycheck.  Well, if your only getting a 2-5% pay increase and inflation is at 4% every year, some if not most people take a paycut.  Do that for 10 years and add in high interest credit cards, car payments with interest and cost of living increases and you have a dream stealer.

No one wants to talk about it and most ignore it which is why there are so many people in financial bondage.  I am here to tell you that it’s not too late.  Network marketing requires marketing.  Today, with the power of the internet as well as some super sharp people out there who are eager, willing and looking for something different to do with their lives are waiting for you to offer them an opportunity to make their dreams come true.  Is it easy?  Nope, that is why so few make it. But for those who treat this like a business and not a hobby and for those who stick with it, dreams become a reality.

Over 200,000 people every week are joining the network marketing industry on a global basis.  Are you going to sit back and watch the passing parade of humanity build hope, a future and their dream while you meander in the pool of mediocrity or are you going to rise to the occasion and make it happen.  What is your excuse going to be as to why you haven’t succeeded at the level you expected of yourself in life?

Finishing Strong

Starting Strong/Finishing Weak

Back in high school I was a wrestler. Yes I had to wear a skimpy singlet and head gear and probably looked like a dork, but let me tell you, as far as training goes, there is no sport that tests your endurance more.  For some reason at every wrestling match about 3 minutes in, if I lasted that long, I would run out of gas.

I was a very strong starter. I came out on the mat in a match with blazing guns and would try to take my opponent out in the first minute or so.  I knew I had to as I knew I was known to run out of gas by the second round and would ultimately get pinned.  I was not a strong finisher.  Why? I think it was probably mindset more than anything. Back then, I knew little about how my own mind worked, but through previous experiences, I taught myself that I couldn’t go past that second round and if I was going to win, I had to do it quickly.

A Transition To Network Marketing

Fast forward a bunch of years, I found myself in network marketing in my early 30′s.  I came out of the gates fired up and thought I was going to have my first six and they would have their six and so on, so forth.  I was like a mortar on the 4th of July.

I did sponsor 9 people in my first month in business and got all kinds of recognition.  Three months later, it was just me.  Why?  Because I let my foot off the gas thinking I had everyone in place to start building an organization and one by one, they quit.  I won’t get into how we went about sponsoring new reps as that is a whole other story.

Lesson Learned

I learned a valuable lesson though.  You have to create momentum in network marketing.  Personal momentum ALWAYS preceeds group momentum.  What happened was I was so busy trying to help those 9 build their organizations that I stopped sponsoring.  Little did I know that you NEVER stop sponsoring until you have at least 10 people on your team who have duplicated what you have done and they have people duplicating as well.

Finishing Strong

We live in a society where it has become acceptable to quit.  Take a look at the divorce rate.  Have a look at all of the people who are perfectly able to work but sit back on a piddly workers comp check or unemployment check.  Let’s face it, most people look for the easy way out.

Finishing strong means to commit. Commitment is putting all resources on the table ahead of time and burning the bridges behind you to hinder retreat.  It takes being passionate, consistent and persistent until the goal has been reached.  For some, it’s a lifelong endeavor.

Let Me Try This Out

I see way too many people who take a stab at the network marketing industry and have the “I will give it a try mentality.” If that is you, If you have put a 60-90 day trial on whether it will work for you or not, do yourself a favor and quit NOW!  It takes a good 3-5 years to create anything great.  Yes there are people that build organizations at lightening speed, however, it will take a while to get educated and up to speed.

Your Why Will Determine How High You Fly

When I ask people why they are interested in having a business of their own, I hear all kinds of reasons. A year down the road, those reasons change and become clearer.  Problem is, most don’t hang around long enough to manifest their “Why”.

You must know exactly what you want. It has to be a burning desire and something you get emotional about or you will fold like a house built of cards when times get tough.  And they will get tough. You must have a crystal clear picture of why you are doing what your doing on a daily basis and have your short term and long term goals set to become successful at anything.

In The End

I think for the most part that everyone wants to finish strong.  Make it happen. Do not waiver. Be Strong enough to battle the storms when they come and when it is all said and done and you have laid your sword on the battlefield at the end of the fight, you will know that you have made a difference in the world around you and carried out your own destiny in life..  Finish Strong.

Network Marketing has been around since the beginning of time……..

When you think of the greatest network marketer of all time, who comes to mind? Jim Rohn?  Dexter Yager? Larry Winters or Randy Gage?

For me, it’s got to be Jesus Christ. You may be scratching your head thinking I have gone off my rocker but hold on a sec and let me go deeper.  Jesus walked the earth over 2000 years ago.  His message was the Gospel “The Good News”. That was his product line (per say). He had twelve disciples in which he commanded to go out into the world and spread the word of the Gospel.

Now you catch my drift.  The Gospel spread all over earth and nearly 2/3 of the planet know of him and his teachings.  It all started with the twelve.  The message remains unscathed and the product still pure.  Jesus has the largest down line known to man.

Ok…So now your thinking to yourself, “Josh, what is your freaking point here!”  My point is, he used a system very much like the one really good network marketers use today.  He focused on others before himself.  He focused on educating his students, empowering his students and most of all, loving his students.

These are the three elements that must be present when building a team and a large organization of any kind.

Education: This is what most network marketers want to skip over when they get started.  They want to know how to quickly move product and make money.  Chances are, that thought process changed real quick when people realize that they have no idea how to market.  Learning is the first step in network marketing success.

Today, there is a lot to learn. Most companies teach their “students” to work their warm market. Friends, family and neighbors.  Doesn’t work to well these days.  Savvy network marketers have taken to the Internet to practice their trade because it’s a way bigger pond with way bigger fish. Jesus didn’t have the Internet, but he sure focused on educating his disciples on the word of god.  Now evangelism is all over the Internet.  Kingdom Connection is a great example. As time changes, so do the ways in which we distribute information.

Empowerment: Empowering your team is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle in network marketing.  It’s not what you can do, it’s what you can duplicate.  Jesus handed over his power to his disciples and told them to go out and feed the hungry and heal the sick.  Today, if we empower people, all we will have are followers.  The goal is to have those followers become leaders.  Give them the tools they need to succeed and set them loose.  Sure some will need more nurturing than others, but it is empowerment that will build long term success and stability in your business.

Love: One of Jesus’s greatest commandments is to love your neighbor as you love yourself and of all things, love is the greatest.  Love is the glue that holds organizations together through thick and thin.  You have to love people folks.  If it’s all about you, you won’t have people hanging around for long.  Get personal with people on your team.  Help them get what they want.  Love on them.  Give them attention and let them know how much you appreciate them.  The leaders who do this have what they have because they have taken the time to care for others.  Be selfless in your journey.

Network marketing is not just about making money, it’s about people and changing lives.  Sure there are always going to be those that take advantage of the system, but it will be short lived.  This is a relational industry and without education, empowerment and love, the glue loosens and wheels begin to spin.

The reality is anyone who decides they want to change their life can.

The most important part of winning at anything is making a quality decision.  It all starts with a decision backed with a commitment. You must decide what you want and when you want it and make up your mind that you won’t quit on yourself. Staying consistent and persistent is one of the biggest reasons why people either succeed or don’t and then working on yourself more than your business.  Here I will go over each of these “most important” parts of being successful in network marketing.

A Quality Decision Backed By Commitment

Everything you do and every action in life starts with a decision to do something.  In the network marketing world, it’s the decision to get started.  What I have noticed over the years is that people are afraid of making a decision.  Let me relate this to you in the simplest form.  How many times have you been out on a dinner date with your friend or significant other and asked ” What are you going to have?” Most will say, “I don’t know, what are you going to have?”  You see, that may not seem like much, however, that is indecisiveness at its finest.

Successful people are quick to make decisions and slow to change them.

Once the decision is made, it must be backed up with commitment.  I have to ask you…What is your level of commitment to creating lifestyle?  Are you willing to do whatever it takes?  Make a decision and be unwavering in changing it.

Deciding You’re Not Going To Quit

Until you close the back door of retreat, you will never reach your full potential.  You see, when you have the opportunity to fall back on something, you will never give it your all.  To really succeed at anything and to become a true winner, you have to burn your bridges to retreat.  Sure it’s risky, so is everything else in life.  Without risk there is no reward.  Go for it, you and your family deserve it.  Make no small plans for they will stir no mans blood.

Stay Persistent and Consistent

A lot of folks have very short term mentalities.  They try something for a period of time and if things don’t work out the way they envisioned, they either quit or let off the gas.  Life anything else in life worth chasing, you must be persistent and consistent in your efforts.  This is especially true in network marketing.

In my early years in network marketing I heard my up line say, get started, get wide, stay steady and don’t quit.  Those words have rang through my head ever since.  Though I have shifted my focus in business towards the internet and to a new business model, the thought process remains the same.

Most people get started out of excitement of being a part of something they feel can solve their problem.  Their decisions are based on emotions.  When the emotion leaves, you will have success.  Don’t make decisions based on how you feel or what you see, make them based on what is right.

Work On Yourself Constantly

Lastly, work on yourself constantly.  Your business will never outgrow your self esteem!  How you feel about yourself is how others will feel about you.  You have what I call the ear gate and the eye gate.  You must protect both of them as if your life depends on it.  What you read and what you listen to have everything to do with where you will be in the next 5 years.  Always be putting good stuff in your head through reading personal development books and listening to CD’s/MP3′s, etc.  Engulf yourself in personal development.  If you’re ever going to lead a team of people, you have to learn how to lead and deal with folks.

Make reading a habit. The folks with the largest bank accounts and largest teams are readers.  Leaders are readers.

Ok, so wrapping it all up here, Make a decision to get started, Get Committed, Stay persistent, don’t ever quit and work on your positive mental attitude.

There are Six Areas To Master If You Want To Become A Top Producer In The Network Marketing or MLM Business.

Mentoring

Find someone who is where you want to be in life or someone who can watch your blind spots
and let them mentor you. Beg them, barter with them, but do something to allow them to coach
you.

You also want to be mentoring others while your being mentored. There is something to be said
about giving your time away. Be wise about it and don’t waste your time mentoring people that
are not coachable.

If you take a look at any of the top leaders in the business world, they all have mentors in
one shape or form.

Positioning

Self Branding is one of the most crucial areas to work on. You can have all 5 areas I am going
to talk about here, but if you miss this one, it’s the deal breaker.

Part of this is owning your name in the search engines. What comes up when you Google yourself?
Is it you or is someone trashing your name. People who have positioned and branded themselves
properly own the first 5 pages of Google for their name. Yep, that is the first 50 spots.

Make yourself an expert in your niche.

Outsourcing

Figure out what the most profitable thing you do in your network marketing business is and outsource
the rest.  Top producers know that time is the most valuable commodity. Free yourself up and
do the things that produce the biggest results. Outsource the things you dont like to do.

This is about building “Your Team”. Having a team of professionals that are trained to do the tasks
to keep your business running. This is part of your mastermind group. Over time, your team will become your
most valuable asset. They will help you identify your strengths and weaknesses.

This is how you can eventually get to a 2-4 hour work day and truley enjoy the benefits
of owning your own business.

Having Multiple Streams of Income

When you have cronic headaches you don’t go to an advil prescription specialist, you go to a doctor to get diagnosed. He will then prescribe the remedy.

It’s the same thing in our business. Most people in the network marketing industry only concentrate on
their specific business and it’s product.

Once a prospect qualifies themself for my time, I ask a lot of questions as I don’t have a one size
fits all business.  I find out exactly what people are looking to accomplish and what it is that “THEY WANT”.
Once I know this, I can them take a look into my arsenal of solutions and prescribe it.

Be a solution provider and a problem solver.

Paid Marketing

There are tons of methods to market your business.  Paid marketing brings the most robust results when it comes to
lead generation and analytics.  To find out what works and what doesnt, you need quite a bit of traffic to your site
to see how it is converting to sales.  You can then tweak it for optimum results. Paid traffic and free traffic convert very differently. I have access to over 30 sources of paid traffic.

Free Traffic

Free traffic can come from blogging, article writing, social networks like Facebook, Youtube and Twitter. This traffic takes time to build but converts very well as people really get to know the real you, unless of course your faking it. People can read right through you on the social networks so be careful. The only person you will fool is yourself.

Take these 6 areas and master them all. If you fall short in one or two of these areas, work on them as they may be exactly what is holding you back from being MASSIVELY successful in business.
