In today’s world there are all types of network markter’s out there.  Here are a few I came up with………

The Wanna-Be Network Marketer

Ever hear of the term fake it until you make it?  These are network marketers that try to impress you by making outlandish income claims and trying to make you think that they have made it financially.  I see it all over the place on the web but can read right through those people.

It’s real easy to pick them out of the crowd-simply google them.  It is amazing what you can find out about people when you query the search engines.

The Shouting Network Marketer

This is a category that a shit-ton of network marketers fall into.  The internet is filled with noise and people knocking others down thinking its going to make them look like the king.  Big time no no and we know who you are.  These guys and gals actions speak so loudly we cant hear what they are saying.

They are known for spamming and blatantly pitching their business opportunities all over the web in places you wouldn’t dream of seeing a business opportunity.  They crowd twitter, myspace, facebook and many other web 2.0 sites.  Most of the time they are shunned.  No one likes a shouter.

The Newbie Network Marketer

Newbies are cool because they are hungry to learn more.  They are wide open vessels.  There are really two types of Newbies.

1. This infant networker goes out and keeps purchasing course after course hoping it is their next ticket to wealth.  Problem is, they realize it takes a whole lot of time to go through these courses and learn the info, let alone implement.  They get so overwhelmed that they freeze up and end up frustrated and confused.

2. This networker chooses his/her course of action carefully.  They mastermind with people who are where they want to be and purchase one relevant course at a time to learn and master the skill set.  They don’t purchase another one until they have gotten results from implementing the knowledge they learned from the course.

The Clueless Network Marketer -  This is going to be short and sweet.  These guys and gals just throw crap at the internet and the world around them, hoping something will stick.  It’s a short term strategy and never works so please STOP IT!

The Savvy Network Marketer

These are the guys and gals I love to see succeed. They have done their homework, invested time, effort and money into their marketing plans and are attacking their futures with everything they have.  They know where they are going and how they are going to get there.  They know their conversion rates, budget, time commitments, etc.

Savvy Networker’s know where to find their audience and how to relate to them.  They are problem solvers and solution finders.  These marketers are always seeking wisdom and guidance from the movers and shakers in the industry.

Is Network Marketing a viable source for a supplemental income?  Yes and No. It depends on whether you’re serious about taking on another financial responsibility.  I think there are two things that people don’t understand too well.

Number One: What are one’s income options and how money is really created.

Number Two: How much work and resources it takes to turn a network marketing opportunity into a cash cow.

A Quick Lesson on your income options.

Any way you slice it your either going to create an active income or a passive income and there is no right or wrong here, it just depends on how much you want to leverage your time and your money.

Active Income consists of either working a job or owning a traditional business.   Here, you are taking the time you have in a day and trading it for the dollars that your employer or customers pay you for the time traded for service.  The challenge with active income is that it is dependent on you trading the time.  As soon as you stop, the income stops.  This is what most of us have been taught to do from a very young age.  Go to school, get an education and either go and work for a big company or start your own business.  Pretty sad we were not really taught how to create passive income.

Passive income is either income you generate through investments (trading dollars for dollars), or in Business Systems (Franchise Business Models). Very few people have enough money to leverage investments as their sole source of income.  If you have ever heard, “It takes money to make money.” This is where the saying comes from.  Business systems allow you to leverage time. When you own a business system, you have the ability to duplicate your efforts.   Take Starbucks for example.  One store produces about $2-3K a day. Not so impressive.  But when you take a look at all of the outlets they have (1000’s), now you have leveraged time.  It’s the only way I know to do it.

What It Takes.

Network Marketing allows you to take advantage of a business system.  You don’t have to re-create the wheel; you just follow a duplicatable, repeatable system.  I think that people have a bad taste in their mouths for the industry because they know someone who has tried it and failed.  Why then are there people that excel in network marketing?

It comes down to education and using the right tools and systems to build their business.  There is a learning curve when it comes to network marketing.  You have to be willing to put time into learning how to market.  It doesn’t matter how good your product line is, you have to be able to take it to market.  Online marketing has taken a huge turn over the past decade.  Over the past four to five years, Internet Marketing has become the prime source of new business for the network marketing industry.

He, who learns how to market online, wins.  Build a successful network marketing business and it will easily replace your current income.  What it comes down to is treating your business like a business and not a hobby.  Most fail in the industry because they take a stab at it and they don’t see immediate results.

I have to ask.  When you open a new brick and mortar business and lay out a few hundred thousand to open it, how long will it take for you to start making money? A year? Two years?  Its way quicker in the network marketing world and the investment and risk is way less.  It does, however, require the same amount of work ethic as any business out there.

Network marketing is a viable source for secondary income.  I would highly suggest that if you’re looking for another way to create an income for you and/or your family that you learn how to market first and choose a company second.  Like I stated before, it all comes down to your marketing skills and no matter how great a product is, it’s still just a product.  Marketing is learning how to move that product or service across a distribution channel.
