Contrary to what alot of MLM business builders and network marketers are taught, there is a way better and more productive way to build your network marketing business.  While a LARGE percentage of network marketers today will brand their company instead of them, you can break away from the pack and brand yourself.

Whether you are building a traditional business or are looking to get known online, the strategies that are discussed in the above video are universal.  It’s all about YOUR brand.

Before I go into what I have learned over the past few years in trying to learn PPC or Pay Per Click Marketing, I would like to preface that my results are not typical, though not rare either.

I have spent countless painstaking hours trying to learn this shit and have invested thousands of dollars to figure out what works for ME. I do by no means consider myself a self proclaimed GURU or anything either.  With that said……

My aim here is to lay a basic foundation that that you don’t go through the same things I went through and burn up unnecessary cash in your quest to master PPC and grow your business.

Search Marketing

For today’s purpose we are only going to cover search marketing.  Content marketing is a whole other animal and I am not even close to being qualified to speak even an ounce of wisdom on it, so we’ll leave it alone.

Search marketing is an extremely powerful way to market as it puts you right in front of someone searching for something specific on a search engine like Yahoo, Google, Bing or the hundred other sites out there that sell ad space.

It’s actually quite simple.

1. You bid on a keyword that you think or (know) people are going to search for.

2. Your ad shows up in the sponsored sites section of the search engine.

3. People click on your ad and are routed to your website or webpage.

4. You provide enough value to someone and they take the specific action you want them to take on your page.

5. Hopefully YOU GET PAID!!!

Sounds easy right?

That’s what I thought when I first got started on Google almost three years ago.

I burnt through three hundred bucks in about twenty minutes and had not a lead to show for it.

Why?

Well I never really figured it out on Google. But today, I know very well why.

RELEVANCY!

Yep, that one word changed my whole business, bank account, credibility and most importantly my belief that I could accomplish anything and I mean anything that I put my mind to.

Google used to be the place where the home business industry advertised.  Google, however, decided it was going to clean some house due to some unethical marketers clogging up their engine with hype and garbage.  They basically wiped our industry off the face of Google, with the exception of a few people who are still trying to work the Google system.

I decided that I was going to use the other “Big 2″, Yahoo and MSN , which are now justMSN or BING.

The Nitty Gritty

First you need to have the ability to make slight changes to your landing page on the fly, such as the Sub-headline and the headline. If you don’t know how to do this, you’d better learn how.  The marketing system I use has a system built in which makes it super easy and quick too.

Second, your going to need to learn how to do keyword research.  Basically your going to have to learn how to find keywords that are searched, but not over competitive.  I like to stick with long tailed keywords, meaning they have 3 or more words to them.  Less competitive and I can get cheaper clicks and conversions.

Third, your going to have to get used to using the Bing network.  By the way, when you advertise on Bing or Microsoft Adcenter, your ads will also show on Yahoo as it was aquired by MSN. This is where you are going to create your campaigns, adgroups and write your ads.

That is a whole other course in itself that I will do at some point.

So now what?

Now you have to take the keywords, create campaigns and adgroups and start writing ads that are congruent to your landing page.

This is where I used to blow it and where most marketers were blowing it.  We all were using all different kinds of keywords and sending the traffic to one landing page.

What happened was a low clickthrough rate, low conversions and less sales.

Today when I use a keyword, that keyword is in the ad, the copy I use in the ad is the same copy I use in my headline and has my keyword in it or in the Subhead.  This is called relevancy and congruency and it’s not only what the search engines like, it’s what their customers (end users and your prospects) also like.

If your unfamiliar with the revelation I just blessed you with, it’s ok.  It took me a year and a half to really get it.

Now I can tell you that I get clicks for as little as $.10 and conversions as little as $.15.  Yep $.15 leads and not just a few, dozens a week.  Guess what else?  My traffic converts to buyers like crazy.  I don’t generate a whole slew of traffic like some people, but the traffic I do generate have a connection with me, know me and a lot of the time come to trust me.

Generating leads in your network marketing business is crucial to your long term success in the industry or any industry for that matter.

Over the years you probably have done some pretty crazy things to generate leads.  Most likely you have done everything from cold calling people in the phone book, leaving business cards in the self help books in the local bookstore, engaging in conversations with anyone with a heartbeat, attending every community social gathering, etc…etc…

While some of those methods might have worked, I am sure it was always short term and you found yourself having to consistently do the work to keep the leads coming in.  Over the course of time, it gets cumbersome and something has got to give.

It wasn’t until I learned how to leverage systems that allowed me to multiply my efforts, that I saw a huge change in my productivity as well as growth in business.

One of the things I realized is that I wasted a lot of time talking to people that I had no business talking to about business.  I realized that if I was going to move ahead in business, I would have to have a system in place to pre-qualify my prospects before I ever talked to them.  This is called sifting and sorting.

I also found out that all of the top earners in the network marketing/internet marketing industry used a funded proposal funnel system to monetize their efforts.  This means that when someone drops into your sales funnel, you have numerous opportunity’s to offer something of value to them before they leave. This is done through your auto-responders as well as phone conversations and connecting with people.

Some people think that just because they have a online lead generation system in place, they no longer have to pick up the phone and connect with people.  WRONG! You will always have to talk to people, always. It’s the glue that holds things together.

If your trying to convince people that “your business is the best” or “your product rocks everything else out there”, your in for a rude awakening.  It’s not one size fits all.  People are looking for solutions to their problems and if you only have one solution, your going to be a very frustrated marketer.

Think of yourself as a doctor and you have patients coming to you with an ailment that needs a prescription of some sort.  If it your duty to diagnose your patients and then have the best solution to fix their specific problem.  You can only find these things out by connecting with people on their level.  Forget about what you want and start thinking about what other people need.

While lead generation systems increase productivity, understand that they are only another tool. You still have to work.  Whether your using Pay Per Click, Blogging, Banner advertising, Article Writing, Video Marketing or Press Releases, you still have to be able to connect with your audience in a way that your providing value and not merely pushing a product or service.  You have to understand that your not dealing with machines, your dealing with peoples lives.

Increasing your own value to society is one of the secrets of the industry. You have to connect before you pull.  This is where the attraction marketing comes into play.  If you have two magnets and you put the polar opposites near each other, you are going to repel them from each other.  Flip one of them around and they will draw themselves together and at that point you can pull.

There are many ways to generate leads in your network marketing business.  Some hold on to traditional techniques as this is what they are comfortable doing.  Is there anything wrong with it? Nope.  It all depends on what kind of momentum you want to have in your business and how fast you want to grow your organization.

I have built my business both ways.  I used to spend every spare moment I had in what I call “contact mode”. I was always talking to people everywhere I went. I simply started conversations and looked to find out a few things about a person. I wanted to know if they were happy doing what they were doing for a living, if they were making all of the money they wanted and living the life they wanted.  I would guide them down a path in a conversation to find out what made them tick.

Did I have success using these techniques?  I had some success, but could never create enough momentum, nor have others duplicate what I was doing to build my list of potential business partners.  I learned a lot about people during this portion of my life. Mostly, I realized that most folks were comfortable doing what they were doing, or, were afraid and skeptical about starting a new venture in which they were unfamiliar.

The funny thing is, when you got done interviewing someone or showing them your business plan, they first thing they would do is call either their best friend or significant other to try and explain what it is you showed them and ask for their opinion.  This is the downfall of most people.  They listen to others who have no experience in business and take financial advise from them.

NEVER TAKE ADVISE FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT WHERE YOU WANT TO BE IN LIFE FINANCIALLY!

I learned this early on.   Learning how to generate leads for my network marketing business was a science.  I quickly learned that there were way more people online looking for what I had to offer, than in my town.  Sure you could tap into lists of other people, but you had no credibility with those people.  When online, a cool thing happens.  Your message can reach the far ends of earth with the click of a button and you can control your sales funnel, meaning guide people through your system at the rate in which you want them to go.

For me, there has never been a better way to generate leads than online.  Some people laugh and don’t understand how I can build a relationship with people online.  They don’t understand they powerful systems and tools that we as online marketers use.

Most people are real good at promoting their business, however, fail to realize that people are not looking for businesses, they are looking for leaders.  I see it all of the time.  People send me to their company replicated web pages and there are only two options, join their business or contact them for more info.  I am not saying this is wrong, however, what separates these folks from every other Tom, Dick and Sarah that are using the same exact replicated site?  The answer is nothing.

You have to separate yourself from the masses.  Stop doing what everyone else is doing and be unique.  Use the road less traveled.  Step into unfamiliar ground and learn a new skill set.  Learn how to tap into the billions of people that are online looking for what you have to offer.  Have a system in place to help people get exactly what they want out of business.

Network marketing lead generation is crucial to your having a thriving business in the 21st century.  Your either going to be the hunter or the hunted.  I prefer the ladder of the two.  How about You?

The four most dangerous words are, “I already know that!”

My step-father used to call me Mr. Know-it-all as a kid growing up.  I hated it, however it was well deserved.  I thought I knew everything.  Can you imagine? 11 years old and I thought I had everything figured out.  Boy was I wrong.  The best part about it, was that my step-dad was a doctor.  Yep, he practiced psychology.

Fast forward a bunch of years, now I am 37 and I know a little more than I did at age 11, however I realized that life is a constant education.  In relation to the amount of knowledge one can aquire throughout a lifetime, I know absolutely nothing in comparison.

I have learned that I never tell anyone, “I already know that”, or anything like that phrase.  Why? It only shows ignorance.  If you already knew everything, there would be nothing left to learn.

I am constantly reading books, buying courses, attending conferences, webinars, conference calls and associating with as many brilliant people as possible. Why do I do this?  Because I always want to be expanding my knowledge.  What do you have to offer other people?  Are you a giver or a taker or both?  These are questions only you can answer.

One of the lessons I have learned over the course of time is that in order to receive, you must first freely give.  It is a universal law.  Call is sowing and reaping, call it Yin and Yang, eb and tide, etc.  For every reaction there is an equal and opposite reaction.  I have always been a giver, therefor I have always had. I did not realize this working in my life until later on in life when I looked back at all of the circumstances to turned out very positive in my life.  It was due to the giving.

OK. enough of that, let’s get back to business.

When I started marketing online a little over a year ago, I knew nothing.  I knew how to google something, send an email, log onto Myspace, Facebook, etc.  I had no clue what AWeber, Squeeze Pages, SEO, Monetization or anything else to do with Internet Marketing.

I had, however studied attraction marketing years prior.  The first online course I ever bought was Mike Dillards Magnetic Sponsoring. This course was the launching point to everything I have done online and was the incubator for me learning how to attract rather than repel people to and from me.  That course changed my life.

The fact is, I realized that if I was going to go where I had never been, I knew that I was going to have to do things I have never done.  That meant, if I wanted to make millions online, be free from my job and out of financial bondage, I was going to have to study the people that had went before me.  I invested thousand of dollars in my education.  Books, e-courses, videos, software, etc.  You name it, I aquired it.  Some of the stuff I could have done without, but I realized that it was all a part of the process.

Most people getting started with an online business or any business for that matter needs to totally humble themself.  They need to realize that they don’t know anything.  The good news is, information is accessible these days to learn just about anything.  Everyone wants the quickest way to rich’s and freedom. The truth is, there is no quick way, however there are shortcuts.

It takes hard work to become a success at anything and don’t let all of the Internet Hype fool ya. “I made $386,000 in 3 days and you can do it too!”  I bet you see that everywhere you look don’t you?  Is it possible? Yep.. Will it happen for you? Maybe.  See, that is just marketing and who ever wrote that ad is feeding on your brain and appealing to what may want.  What you dont hear about is the ten years that person spent online, struggling, spending money they didnt have, foreclosing on their home because they just sunk their last $10K into a botched Google Adwords campaign.  You dont hear about the struggle, but it’s there.

“I already know that” ~ has now disappeared from your vocabulary.  You are now a new person, learning new skills that are going to take you to new places. Don’t be a Mr. Know-it-all like I once was.  You can learn something about anything from anyone with a real dream.

Lead Generation Systems

Lead Generation Systems are a dime a dozen on the Internet.

If your like me, when I first got started in network marketing, I was fired up.  I was sure that within 6 months I would be a millionaire or close to it.  What made me think that? Well, I was smart, hardworking, could follow systems, etc..

The Reality set in after the first couple of weeks.  I had exhausted the list of friends, family and everyone I had known through out my whole life. I had sponsored a few people in business, but was out of leads.  I realized I was going to have to get really good at talking to people about my business or so I thought.

You see,  I was being trained and mentored by a guy that was extremely successful, but had built his huge organization back in the 1980′s and early 1990′s and had no clue about generating leads over the Internet.  All he knew was old school prospecting.

I was out of leads, was tired of talking to strangers, walking the malls, supermarkets, Home Depots and my local bookstore looking for my next business partner.  Can you relate?  I knew there was a better way to attract people to me.  I knew there was a more 21st century method to building my business and I was determined to find out what the top producers where doing to build their business in todays day and time.

Fast forward a few years, the game changed.  What I had noticed is that there was a paradigm shift.  The Internet was were network marketers were turning to build their empires.  They were using sophisticated yet user friendly lead generation systems to build their business.  This was when I was introduced to the funded proposal system.

How did I find it?  Well it all started with me starting to search on the web for network marketing training online.  Through the search I encountered a guy by the name of Mike Dillard and his E-book,Course and affiliate system called Magnetic Sponsoring. This was a few years back. I forked up the $40 and my life was dramatically changed. Mike forever changed the way network marketers generated leads as well as changed the whole industry.

The days of pitching friends and family, making lists, hotel meetings, etc. where now over for me.  I learned the truth about why people would join someone in business.  It was not that they were making tons of cash, it wasn’t because they drove a red Ferrari or Porsche Carrera Twin Turbo.  It was because of relationships.  People do business with people they know, like and trust. Period..

Mike Dillard’s system taught me valuable lessons in which I put to work immediately.  Today, Mike Dillard is one of my mentors and we are in business together.  If fact, he is in my line of sponsorship in my primary company.  His attraction marketing system inspired a whole new way of thinking in the network marketing community called “Attraction Marketing”. Other’s followed his system and produced substantial results. This caused an Internet Revolution and other leaders such as Brian Fanale, Todd Schlomer and Norbert Orlawitz came forward with Network Marketings first, self branding, fully customizable attraction marketing lead generation system.

The System I speak of is MLM Lead System Pro. This system takes the person who knows nothing about network marketing and MLM lead generation from the ground up, teaching philosophy, hardcore tactics, tips and tricks and turns them into master online marketers.  I dont know about you, but I wanted to master the art of generating leads and doing it online.

Since then, I have produced thousands of highly targeted leads which have turned into business partners.  The leads that didn’t join my team are all in my network on my mailing list and I do what we call monetize.  The 90% of the people that opted in to take a look at my business and didnt join, all buy things from me.
