It was the year 2008 and I had been in a traditional MLM company for 4-1/2 years, building it the old school way. Back in 2006 I had purchased Mike Dillards Magnetic Sponsoring and at the time it was way over my head.

I had no idea how to put the systems he was talking about into place, nor did I know anything about Internet Marketing, however, the information planted in MS was revelation knowledge to me.  I was so darn excited and relieved that I was not the only one that went through the issues that most network marketers deal with.

Timing is everything

I really believe that god hands you things as he sees that you are fit to handle them.  It’s all about his timing not mine.  Toward the end of 2008 I was frustrated.  I had built several small organizations in my MLM company at that time and each time I thought I had traction and was growing, my group fell apart like an old Hyundai.  4-1/2 years and nothing to show for it other than the awesome education I had received through dozens of weekend seminars, one on one coaching and weekly hotel meeting trainings.

I knew that there was a better way of building a network marketing business and I also knew that the Internet was the place to do it, however I could not put the pieces together that were necessary to make a move forward online.

Then, a series of circumstances came forth.  I re-read Magnetic Sponsoring, found some very successful Internet Marketers and connected with them and started the process of branding and positioning myself online.

My Blog

The first step in having an online presence is having a blog or a “hub”.  Somewhere where I can write about my thoughts, offer some training of all the things I learned or am learning and a place in which people can come to see what I am all about.

I started out with a Blogger Blog and actually had several.  I got comfortable with blogging and wanted to take it to the next level so I hired someone to build me a professional Wordpress blog with all of the bells and whistles.

Since it’s creation it has changed and morphed into what it is today.  I am going to change the theme and look again in just a few weeks.  Why?  Because I am changing.

My blog is an extension of me.  It’s a place in which I can be real with people, offer advise, exchange information and learn more about my audience.  It is the first step in really positioning yourself for success online so don’t skimp out on it. I have spent thousands of dollars on my blog, building backlinks, graphics, etc..  Do you have to do the same?  All depends on how much knowledge you have about building blogs.

Continuing Education

After leaving my traditional MLM company and hooking up with an online business model in the top tier direct sales industry, I realized I had a lot to learn, so I dug in and spent a lot of time learning the basics.  Video Marketing, Article Writing, Learning how to write a press release, Pay-Per-Click Advertising, Banner Advertising, etc.  I probably learned about 20 ways to market online through the program and community that I belong to.  What I realized is that the learning never stops.  It’s ongoing and constantly changing because the Internet is constantly changing.

Making Things Happen

With all the hype on the Internet and false income claims people make, people have this notion that it’s easy to make money online.  It is, once you learn how to market, but a struggle all the way up to that point.  Nothing worth having is going to come easy.  There is no easy money on the Internet.  If your going to make it online, your going to invest money to make money, period.  Like everywhere else, there is no free ride.

Massive action and persistent and consistent effort is the only thing that is going to propel you to any substantial income online.  You have to be an action oriented and laser focused person to become a top internet marketer.  You have to be willing to invest in courses, systems and anything necessary to bridge the gap that exists between you and your goals.  Are you going to blow some money in the wrong places?  Yep. It is all part of the learning process.  Don’t beat yourself up over it, just keep it going until you get what you want out of it or until you meet your goals face to face.

In Conclusion

Just in the past year alone I have learned a ton and got the equivalent of an associates degree in Internet Marketing.  I am currently working on my bachelors (sort of speak) and then onto my masters.  Just like everything else, it has required many hours of study and financial resources to keep everything going.

Winners do whatever it takes to make their dreams and goals a reality.  Losers make excuses as to why things have not gone their way and play the blame game.

The four most dangerous words are, “I already know that!”

My step-father used to call me Mr. Know-it-all as a kid growing up.  I hated it, however it was well deserved.  I thought I knew everything.  Can you imagine? 11 years old and I thought I had everything figured out.  Boy was I wrong.  The best part about it, was that my step-dad was a doctor.  Yep, he practiced psychology.

Fast forward a bunch of years, now I am 37 and I know a little more than I did at age 11, however I realized that life is a constant education.  In relation to the amount of knowledge one can aquire throughout a lifetime, I know absolutely nothing in comparison.

I have learned that I never tell anyone, “I already know that”, or anything like that phrase.  Why? It only shows ignorance.  If you already knew everything, there would be nothing left to learn.

I am constantly reading books, buying courses, attending conferences, webinars, conference calls and associating with as many brilliant people as possible. Why do I do this?  Because I always want to be expanding my knowledge.  What do you have to offer other people?  Are you a giver or a taker or both?  These are questions only you can answer.

One of the lessons I have learned over the course of time is that in order to receive, you must first freely give.  It is a universal law.  Call is sowing and reaping, call it Yin and Yang, eb and tide, etc.  For every reaction there is an equal and opposite reaction.  I have always been a giver, therefor I have always had. I did not realize this working in my life until later on in life when I looked back at all of the circumstances to turned out very positive in my life.  It was due to the giving.

OK. enough of that, let’s get back to business.

When I started marketing online a little over a year ago, I knew nothing.  I knew how to google something, send an email, log onto Myspace, Facebook, etc.  I had no clue what AWeber, Squeeze Pages, SEO, Monetization or anything else to do with Internet Marketing.

I had, however studied attraction marketing years prior.  The first online course I ever bought was Mike Dillards Magnetic Sponsoring. This course was the launching point to everything I have done online and was the incubator for me learning how to attract rather than repel people to and from me.  That course changed my life.

The fact is, I realized that if I was going to go where I had never been, I knew that I was going to have to do things I have never done.  That meant, if I wanted to make millions online, be free from my job and out of financial bondage, I was going to have to study the people that had went before me.  I invested thousand of dollars in my education.  Books, e-courses, videos, software, etc.  You name it, I aquired it.  Some of the stuff I could have done without, but I realized that it was all a part of the process.

Most people getting started with an online business or any business for that matter needs to totally humble themself.  They need to realize that they don’t know anything.  The good news is, information is accessible these days to learn just about anything.  Everyone wants the quickest way to rich’s and freedom. The truth is, there is no quick way, however there are shortcuts.

It takes hard work to become a success at anything and don’t let all of the Internet Hype fool ya. “I made $386,000 in 3 days and you can do it too!”  I bet you see that everywhere you look don’t you?  Is it possible? Yep.. Will it happen for you? Maybe.  See, that is just marketing and who ever wrote that ad is feeding on your brain and appealing to what may want.  What you dont hear about is the ten years that person spent online, struggling, spending money they didnt have, foreclosing on their home because they just sunk their last $10K into a botched Google Adwords campaign.  You dont hear about the struggle, but it’s there.

“I already know that” ~ has now disappeared from your vocabulary.  You are now a new person, learning new skills that are going to take you to new places. Don’t be a Mr. Know-it-all like I once was.  You can learn something about anything from anyone with a real dream.

I was in MLM a few years back, knew nothing about Internet Marketing and was taught to make a list of everyone I knew. From my doctor, college, high school friends, family and every acquaintance I ever had. Then I was to get with my upline and call them asking them if they were keeping their options open to a business opportunity. The ones that said yes, I invited them to a meeting to see the plan. Sound Familiar?? Sure there were other ways we tried to market, like on facebook, myspace, etc..

When I look back at that, I have to laugh. Those ways to recruit new people into your business are bogus and no longer work. Unless you learn to market your business online and get serious Internet marketing training, you will never have a large organization. Sure people still do it old school, but most are divorced and have no life because all they do is spin their wheels 7 days a week and most go broke.

An Internet Marketing Coach is essential to your success online

Having an Internet marketing coach is like having a paddle on a canoe, you need it.  It will help to shorten the learning curve big time.  When I first got started marketing online, it was like learning another language.  I was lost and overwhelmed.  Coming from the mlm world, I was used to having a coach/up-line who mentored me in every part of my life.

When I dove into the Internet marketing world, it was like I was a little tadpole in a pool of sharks.  I think the biggest lesson I learned is that I was not alone and it was OK to reach out for some help.  Aaron Rashkin is my coach and although I don’t speak to him very often, I have access to him through his websites and blogs which are loaded with all the information or resources I have needed to succeed.

What most people do is become dependent business owners.  They will call their sponsors constantly asking questions that they could simply find answers to.  By studying the top producers in the business and accessing the tools, tips and tricks of the trade, I now have the tools and knowledge to coach others, hence, now I am the Internet marketing coach.

You see, in order to become a leader or coach, you first have to be led and be coach-able.  I have learned to be a great student and ask lots of questions when I have the opportunity.  Someone can learn something from anyone.

“Well, it’s not the men in your life that counts, it’s the life in your men.” – This is a quote from a 1933 movie called “I’m no angel”.  Most men go to the grave with the music still playing inside and it’s a shame because they had every intention of making something of their lives.

Sound like a fear you wrestle with?  If so, you might want to check your life meter.  Are you currently living your dream life or have you fallen victim to your circumstances like so many others around you?

I am all about living life to its fullest and you should do the same.  I dont ever take no for an answer and I dont ever give up on my dreams, they are just too big and too important.

What it comes down to is responsibility.  People today are so used to passing the blame onto someone else.  “Oh, If our government wasn’t so messed up” or “If I could just start over.”  Take responsibility for where you are, who your with and who you have brought along for the ride.  You are where you are in life because of the decisions you have made so suck it up and make it work with your current circumstances.

Are you a winner or a whining wimp?  Are you an overcomer, a warrior and conquerer? You choose how your going to live this life, not anyone else.

Frankly, I am tired of seeing men walk out on their family’s leaving broken homes and boys growing up without men in their lives.  I can speak from a position of authority on this subject because I came from a broken home, however, I was always surrounded by powerful men.  Women cant raise men, period.

What happened to the days where men were men.  Where they put their family first, not beer or softball with their buddies.  Men Raising Families, creating legacy’s for their children and grandchildren.

The bottom line is, if your not succeeding in life, take a look at who your surrounding yourself with and whether your growing or standing still.

Training is Key

Who is your mentor?  Are you getting the best network marketing training available?  Here is the fact–>Your Not!!

Here is why I say this.  Because when I first got started in this industry, I thought I had been taught by the best of the best.  I thought because my upline made close to a million dollars a year that I was receiving the best education of my life.
