There has been a whole lot of hype in the Internet Marketing world lately when it comes to content sharing, Facebook PPC and a bunch of other crap that just keeps people so far away from their goals, it’s not even funny.

Let’s start with Tribe Pro

Tribe Pro is a platform in which people have the opportunity to start their own “Tribes” and within those tribes people share eachother’s content via social sites like Facebook, Stumleupon, Digg, etc.

I think the idea is awesome, however totally misleading.  We now have Internet marketing communities bragging on how many visitors they are not getting to their blogs because of the viral nature that takes place when content is shared among different networks.  The bottom line is, this stuff takes a whole bunch of time, yet produces very little income.

Think about it.  Is your blog there to provide value?  Yes right?  So more visitors to most people’s blogs does not equal more money in the bank.  It just doesn’t.  Sure it helps brand you and yes it’s great to be able to say that your blog traffic increased by 500% this month because of using TribePro.

I know how much time it takes to produce quality content.  ALOT!  So now we have new marketers thinking that all they have to do to make money is get on TribePro and start producing and sharing other peoples content and money will start flowing into their bank accounts because of all the traffic?

A little misleading, don’t you think? Who gives a rip how many shares you got on a post or how many times your Tweet was retweeted?  Sure, you get the social Props, but that doesn’t put steaks on the table now does it?

Now let’s talk about Facebook

Facebook PPC has been the talk of the Internet marketing community for over a year now.  All I hear about are how people are generating tons of leads on Facebook, but here’s the fricking kicker.

NOONE and I mean NOONE is talking about how those leads have converted for them.

Ok Mr. “I generated 400 leads on Facebook in a day” -

“How many of those leads turned into sales?”

“Excuse me, can you speak up?”

“One?”

“Ha!” I knew it!

You see, all show and no go.  I hate it when people only talk about the front end of the situation but don’t talk about the back end.

Facebook is a social environment.  Sure you may peak people’s curiosity, but to think your going t0 treat that traffic just like you would traffic coming off of Google or Bing is crazy.

I don’t know one person who has made a killing off Facebook, however I know a whole bunch of people have spent tens of thousands of dollars trying to figure out how to monetize the traffic coming off of the platform.

Don’t get me wrong here, I am not trying to be negative about what people are doing and if there are people closing massive business off any of these two platforms, let me know as I would like nothing more then to stand corrected.  I just see companies like MLSP doing trainings on Tribepro quite frequently now and in fact they are dominating the Tribepro community, however, I don’t see anyone raking in dollars as a direct result of using the platform.

Let’s face it, you don’t see Six Figure a month earners pumping out and sharing content on TribePro. Why? Because it doesn’t create monetary results, it creates social clout, period.  What works today is PAID marketing.  Did you hear that?  PAID.

You can pump out all the content you want. Videos, articles, blog posts, etc. will only produce a “TRICKLE” of traffic.  The big falacy is that people are going to get started in an internet business and build an empire for FREE or with little capital.  That’s bowlshit and people know it.

So let’s stop telling new people or prospects that they are going to be able to build their business using free or low cost methods of marketing.  Quite frankly it’s misleading and those that are telling people this are totally out of integrity.  How can I say this with authority?  Because I used low cost and Free methods of advertising for over a year and I know the results I got from a LOT of work.

I also know what kind of results I got when I started paid advertising like PPC, Banner ads, etc.  No comparison.

Let’s keep it real, stop with the B.S. rah rah crap and call this what it is.  It’s business and relationship building.  Buisnesses need capital and require a monthly budget to run, period!

The only guarantee in life is that you are going to go to sleep tonight.

Just because you have an online business is in no way a guarantee that your going to make any money. Millions of people have gym memberships.  They are card carrying members, right?  How many of them do you think actually use their membership?  The truth is, a very small percentage.

I am a workout fanatic. I am in the gym at 5:00 am five days a week and 9:00 on Saturdays.  Why? Because I have fitness goals that I am fully committed to.  What I notice is that in January of every year, the gym is packed to the gills with people who have made New Years Resolutions to get fit and lose weight.  Two weeks later, the gym goes back to normal and people go back to the same routine that they were used to.

Why is this?  Resolutions are not habits and if you don’t stay the course and be persistent and consistent in your efforts, you will fall back into your comfort zone.

It’s The Same Thing In Your Online Business

People get started in an online business with the hopes that they can replace their full time income one day.  The fact is, people are used to being told what to do and come into the home based business industry with an employee mindset.  To make it in business, you have to develop an entrepreneurs mindset, decide that you are going to do whatever it takes to succeed.

The most deadly words I hear all to often is, “I will give it a try and see if it works.”  When I hear that, I tell people they mine as well quit right now because they don’t stand a chance.  If you put a time limit on your success, your setting yourself up for failure.

Know That Your Going To Win

I love what my mentor Aaron Rashkin say’s.  He says if your why doesn’t make you cry, it’s not big enough.  You have to know what you want and be emotional about it or it’s not really your why.  You cant throw mud at your future and hope it sticks.  You have to have a game plan and stick to it no matter what.  Are you going to run into obstacles?  Yep!

This is why few people will ever make any serious money online.  Few people are willing to go through the tough times to see it through to the terrific times.  Your going to reach road blocks that you must be able to barrel through.  You have to decide that no matter what is thrown your way, your going to move past it and continue on.

Investing In You

The only investment that NEVER depreciates in value is people (YOU).  Invest in yourself first so that you can invest in other people.  Why is it that people will invest tens of thousands into a college education but yet once college is over, they feel that every other investment in a course is an expense.  I will tell you why.  Their mindset is all wrong and their belief is not there.

You have to invest in courses, tools and your business in order for it to pay dividends. I like to think of my business as my baby.  I have to feed it until it is mature enough to feed itself and then as time goes on, feed me.  Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself.

Putting It All On The Line

Things will happen for you when you decide that your never going to quit and you commit.  Commitment means to put all your resources forward ahead of time.  Close the door of retreat behind you and you will be forced to move forward.  If you are sitting on $10,000 and you know you need it to move your business forward, invest it.  That could be the single thing that is holding you back.

That is your comfort cushion and until you get rid of it, you will always mentally have that fall back money in your mind.  That investment could be what is keeping you from realizing your dreams and taking your business to the next level.

Get out of your comfort zone and be uncomfortable.  That is where growth always happens, especially in an online business.

Today, the internet is flooded with wannabe network marketers, internet marketers and social media spammers. Very few will actually make enough money to walk away from their careers and living the lifestyle they want.

Money – People who get involved in online businesses are going to have to realize that this is a real business and though it doesn’t come with the overhead of traditional businesses, they are still going to have to invest. It costs money to develop read worthy blogs, advertising, etc. People see income claims of people in their first month pulling in $20K. What they don’t see is that it took $5-$8K of advertising dollars through pay per click to bring in that kind of business. Wake up people. He with the bank roll will have a better chance of making money faster than he with no bankroll.

A No Quit attitude – When most get started in a venture, they just shake a stick at it and say to themselves, ” I am going to give it 6 months and if it doesn’t work, I will try something else or just concentrate on my JOB.” Wrong attitude. If you plan on making it in anything, you have to decide that no matter what, your not going to quit. Do you make money if you quit your job? NOPE! This industry is long term and some make money quickly while others take a while to do it.

I know these things because I have been through the tests of time. I was formerly in MLM for 4 years with a prominent company that has been around for 50 years. I struggled because of the attrition rate. Fast forward, I got out of MLM and into top tier direct sales. The buy in to become a partner is thousands, but it pays thousands per sale. In MLM, you have to move so much product through your organization and need a ton of people to do it. I like it better getting paid off of my efforts and not the efforts of my team. While I still make 30% of my first levels sales, I like the 50% I make when I move a product. Imagine moving one product and making $1k, $5K or $7500? How many of those do you have to sell to have a $50K month? The answer is not too many.
