  • Powerful Keyword Research Tips

keywordFor anyone who is trying to drive targeted traffic to your websites, then I’m sure you’ve been told how important it is that you conduct proper keyword research.

Well tips on how to do that?

I’m grateful you wanted to know.

In just about every market (or niche) there are what we shall call “general” keyword terms. These general keyword terms will typically have the highest search volume (more persons searching for it on search engines), and there will only be a small handful of such keyword terms in a presented market.

For this reason, there is generally a lot of websites competing for these common keyword terms. An example of this is the keyword “golf”.

In the “golf market” the most general keyword term is obviously gonna be “golf”. It gets the highest amount of searches for that niche. It also has more websites competing to rank in the top 10 and more advertisers in the right hand side which suggests a high price-per-click should you advertise for the keyword phrases “golf”.

It’s this that we are going to call the “high hanging fruit”. It’s difficult to succeed if you’re targeting these common search terms.

You’ll attain a higher level of success aimed towards the “low hanging fruit” alternatively. Which keywords are the “low hanging fruit”?

    Long Tail Keywords

Targeting long tail keywords with article marketing makes it so much easier to rank in the top 10 for that given keyword and actually ranking in the top 10 of Google is the one thing that matters.

It doesn’t matter if you’re on page 2 for a keyword that receives thousands of searches per month, because you will still hardly get any clicks.

It is simply the way it is. The majority of people when making a search query, don’t go beyond the first 3 search results aside from the first page!

An illustration of this a “long-tail” keyword for the “golf market” is “How to Use a 9 Iron”. Notice what I’m getting at here?

There are numerous long tail keywords for a given market meaning there is loads of keywords to rank for and squeeze traffic from.

It can also be beneficial to advertise under long-tail keywords working with pay-per-click like Google AdWords. Not simply is the price-per-click generally going to be much cheaper, but the visitors are usually further along in the “buying process” which means they’re more prone to be receptive to your marketing message.

This essentially tends to make individuals who search using long-tail keywords the “buyers” in any given market. Which is merely what every single online marketer wants.
