What do you and Lady Gaga have in common?
I don’t know about you but I get fired up hearing about and watching other people succeed. I was just watching a show featuring Lady Gaga. If you don’t know who she is, she is one of today’s hottest pop icons with 8 million records sold and has an album with 4 #1 songs. Pretty amazing.
The part that got me was the consistent effort she put forth all the way through her childhood. She knew what she wanted way before she had it and worked for it. By 6 she was taking piano lessons, in high school she was in the choir and was writing songs and producing them.
She had such a big dream and held it in for a long time. She visualized herself as Lady Gaga way before she ever became it. That is not even her real name. It’s Joanne Angelina Germanotta.
Ok, back to reality. So what does she have in common with every other successful person on the planet? Lots.
Success always leaves clues behind. Successful people think very much alike. They have a clear picture of who they are and where they are going. They know what they want as well as what they don’t want. What I love are the excuse removers.
These are highly successful people who overcame insurmountable odds in their rise to their dream. I am talking people with some serious physical issues who broke through the barriers necessary to have their vision become a reality.
So I have to ask. What is your excuse. Are you really living the life that you have dreamed of or have you settled for average. I think that a lot of us get comfortable or discouraged. It happens over the course of time. You get in a rut and that’s ok..for a while… Then you realize that you are capable of so much more. Your worth more than your being paid and you want more time to do the things you really want to do with your life.
So what do most people do? They get depressed.
Why?
Mostly it is fear that holds people back. It’s fear that paralyzes the best of us. We know what to do but we are afraid of what other people think. We are afraid to take risks. We hold on to what we have like we can never replace it if ever lost. We hold onto the so called “good old days” mentality. This is especially true in men.
Every time I get together with my old college buddies, they are always bringing up things we did back in school because that was a very fun and free time in our lives. I have to think to myself, “OK, that was like fifteen years ago, get over it already.” I never say that of course, preserving what is dear to them.
I am always thinking about the present and all of the awesome things I have right now. I think of how awesome the future is going to be and all of the things I want to accomplish in my life.
Most importantly, I have a really good picture of how I want my life to look just a year down the road. I have a game plan, a system and a mastermind group of people at my side to help me make my dreams come true and in turn theirs come true as well.
Lady Gaga is just another prime example of someone who saw their star and reached for it not worrying about what other people thought. Yes she is a little out there. Yes she is provocative and a little loud. She carved out her own niche and a nice following to go with it.
How do you picture your life? What does it look like and are you living the life you want or the life you settled for?
