How About the Ability to Just take your work with you where ever you go.  Where ever you go~There you are…Living..Working..Laughing

OK.  So its Monday, June 1st.  I am sitting in my home office in Atlanta just tying up some loose ends and starting to pack for my month trip to Maui, then another month in NY State to visit family and some good old friends.  Not that were old, but when you graduated college in ‘95, you have got some almost 20 year friends from school.

The Picture above was taken at Makena and the waves break right on the sand sometimes 20 feet tall.  I grew up surfing these bad boyz as a young boy into my teen years and even today in my 30’s.  They are narly. They can break your neck, your back, your leg as well as leave your skin torn open by sand.

Yep, I am going to have some sand rash but thats about it.  Its going to be a summer of eat, drink, work and play and I love it..I love my life.

“Secrets of Maui” – Part 2

    Monday, March 16th, 2009

Ha. Bet you thought I was going to leave you hanging…Well as promised I give you a few more totally radical spots to visit on “The Valley Isle“.

    Ma’alaea Bay

Ma’alaea holds a special place in my heart and are where some of my fondest memories of the Island have taken place thus far.
Ma’alaea Harbor is a small South seaport famed for both its winter population of visiting whales from December thru April.  These Humpbacks travel from Alaska to Maui every year.   And then the legendary Ma’alaea Pipeline wave. When a robust South swell hits Maui, surfers from far and near head for Ma’alaea to experience the tubular perfection of one of the world’s fastest rideable waves some at 90MPH.
The waters and reefs of Ma’alaea are important to many species. Ma’alaea Bay is part of the National Humpback Whale Marine Sanctuary – a favorite mating and birthing grounds for the endangered Humpbacks. Friendly Green Sea Turtles browse reefs that border the harbor entrance. Over one hundred species of fish and other marine life make those same reefs their home.

“Secrets of Maui”-Only a Local Would Know.

    Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

A lot of My readers know I am from Maui, but I have not released anything to the public on what I know about the Island and killer places to visit if you vacation there.  You can separate your vacation from everyone elses by just knowing about some spots that will take your breath away.

So you think you have been to Hawaii just because you were once on Waikiki beach or you stayed in Honolulu.  I am here to tell you, you missed Hawaii.

Most tourists want to visit the places that most people talk about.  The USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, etc..  Quite sad really as over the years these places, with the exception of pearl harbor (much respect given), have become tourist traps.

You have not seen the real Hawaii until you have been to either Maui or Kauai.  I will stick to Maui as I grew up there and have conquered much of the island and its surrounding waters.

Secret Spot #1 – In Hana there is a red sand beach. It has become more popular over the years, but weary tourists tend to stay away if they have heard about it as the hike to get there is a little hairy.  In Downtown hana you hang a left down toward the school and soccer field.  There is an old Japanese Cemetary (Its the Only one in hana so just ask if you get lost). You will see the trail along the edge of the cemetary. Just follow it until you come to red sand beach.
