    How To Provide Value To The World Around You.

    value driven marketingWhen I first got started in this industry nearly 6 years ago, I was with a very well known MLM company with over 1 million products and services offered.  I was taught to build a list of everyone I have ever known and to call those people utilizing my non-existent phone skills or a 3-way with my up line.

    That phone weighed 100 pounds.  I was fearful of what my friends and family would think of me.  I had no success other than rising to the position of a GM in the hotel industry and didn’t think I would be taken seriously.

    Needless to say, I sponsored 5 people out of a list of about 300 that I had put together.

    Ok, I said to my up line.

    What Next?

    I was then told to start a very strict reading program and learn to become more relatable to people and get out into the marketplace and start meeting new people.

    After work, I created a route for myself.  I stopped at every gas station on the way home, looking for my next prospect to introduce myself to and extract their phone number.  I stopped at grocery stores, walked malls and department stores trying to make a connection with someone.

    While I became pretty good at shaking hands and doing 1 on 1 presentations and them booking people into a local business presentation for my company, I had little to show for after 4 years of hard work.

    Why?

    There are several reasons, but the biggest is, I had nothing of value to offer people other than the product or services offered.  People saw no value in me; therefore I saw no value in myself either.

    I was only as good as my last presentation and quite honestly the team that I had was not willing to do what I was doing to build my business, i.e. pound the pavement looking for new Reps.

    Needless to say, for years, I had a revolving door business.  People got in and people got out.  The largest my team ever grew to was about 100 people and my biggest monthly check was about $900.  Pretty measly.

    The positive part of the whole experience is I had read about 50 personal development books, had a developed a great self esteem and was willing to do whatever it took to succeed.

    Just about 2 years ago, I decided to look to the internet for a new opportunity.  At first, I was looking for a better way to sponsor reps via the Internet.  Then I realized that I wasn’t the problem, it was the vehicle that was broken.  I had been trying to build an internet based business using old school tactics that were not very duplicatible and without duplication, it’s very hard to build an organization.

    I then learned that if I was going to become a success, I was going to have to educate myself, as well as develop a skill set in which I had something to offer the world around me.  I needed a system and a solution to people’s problems.

    Fast forward to today, I have developed a group of skill sets that most people will never have.  I have branded and positioned myself on the Internet as an authority and a leader in the direct sales industry and have learned how to market online.

    Years ago, I was chasing my prospects, had no credibility and had a very hard time bringing people aboard my primary opportunity.

    Today, I have prospects chasing me.  Using direct response marketing via the Internet, I now generate my own leads (never buy leads by the way), I am able to quickly qualify people for my time and choose who I want to work with.

    By just providing people with an education and knowhow, it’s been an invaluable experience.

    So how has it been for you?  Have you struggled like I did?

    Here’s a secret.

    People are not looking for business opportunities.

    They are looking for a leader and someone who can help them solve their problems.

    If you become that person and have the tools they are looking for to take away whatever pain they are experiencing in their life, you now have the start of a relationship.

    The problem I see with a lot of people online is they try to shove their business down people’s throats talking about how great their product is or how awesome the compensation plan is.  No one gives a crap until they know that you give a crap about them.

    Become a solution provider, a better friend to people and offer the world around you as much value as possible.  You will be compensated for the exact amount of value that you put out there and not a penny more.

Today, I see how you’ve transformed yourself, become a great resource for others to learn from and how this new you is able to influnce the lives of others with your leadership. Awesome Josh!
