Why Working On You Is Sometimes More Important Than Working On Your Business.

As I have begun this new year, I have taken some time to reflect on my business over the past year and have realized that my business only grows when I grow.  Let me explain…

One of the biggest hurdles I have had to overcome is self growth.  I have come to realize that I know nothing and in order to know more, I have to read more.  Reading does something magical to us.  It allows us to take ourselves to the next level.  I fills us with ideas, new conceptions and with knowledge.

You know the saying, “knowledge is power?”

Well that’s false.  “applied knowledge is power!”

You can’t apply what you don’t know, therefor, you must gain the knowledge in order to apply it into your life and business.

Leaders are readers and unless you have a reading program going, your never going to reach the levels of success that you deserve.

One thing I slacked off on in 2013 was reading.  The prior 7 years, I have read over 100 books on success.  I am now going back into my library and re-reading all of the books I have read over the years.

What I have found is that when you read a book for the second, third and even forth times, I pick up new nuggets of wisdom and am able to apply those nuggets into my life and business.

You and I will never outgrow our own self esteem and self worth.  We gain these by becoming more proficient in what we do and gain a better understanding of what we are looking to accomplish in life.

With all this said, My business took a drastic dip in 2013 because I slacked off on my reading program.

Needless to say, I have made the commitment to work on me more then my business.

At 41 years old, I have realized that the only thing that appreciates in value is me.  Everything else depreciates.

Pretty profound right?

Well I have a whole new year to re-invent myself.

I have decided to engulf myself in reading as much as possible and implementing what I read into my life and business.

I have decided to also spend more time doing the things I want to do rather then the things that I have to do.

You see, when you make a decision to win, nothing can stop you except you.  We put the limitations on what is possible in this lifetime.  We are in the drivers seat along with God of course and when we align our goals with what God wants for our life, magical things happen.

This is the year where I break way out of my comfort zone and make things happen.

How about you?  What are your goals this year?  What are some of the things that you want to happen in 2014?
