Self Talk – The Breakfast of Champions.
What if I were to tell you that everything you tell yourself silently is the sum of who you are and puts into motion what your going to attract into your life?
Would you believe me?
Yesterday I woke up hit the gym at 5am and came home. Something didn’t feel right. For the rest of the day I felt mentally weak. Little things began to bother me. Everything that happened yesterday bothered me.
Why?
Because I let it all happen.
One of the things I have learned over the years is to make sure that I control what my internal mouth is saying, meaning, all of the thoughts I allow in my head to happen are positive ones. Yesterday, I have to admit, I was temporarily defeated by some pretty harsh self talk.
I began to create excuses as to why I was not hitting my daily and weekly goals and blamed it on external circumstances.
Any excuse will do when your playing the blame game.
What I missed yesterday was my morning talk with myself.
“What Josh?” ” You talk to yourself?”
Yep, and you should to.
You see, we are all affected by our internal voices and the self talk we give to ourselves on a daily basis. What are you telling yourself? Is it uplifting and powerful?
Or, are you tearing yourself down talking negatively.
I try to start my day with a mantra. Something like, ” Today is going to be a fantastic and productive day, Yes!” and I say it over and over until it naturally plays like a broken record in my head for the next half hour.
Why is this so powerful?
It blocks out any negative thoughts that may try to creep in and replaces it with positive, uplifting thoughts that are going to help me see my day through and assist me in being the best I can be on that day.
Self talk is the breakfast of champions. Controlling your thoughts will have a direct influence on what you put into action each day and that action will produce results.
What are some of the things you do to keep an uplifting mindset throughout the day? I would love to hear some feedback on this one so don’t be shy..

Josh, so right you are! I really appreciate you posting this. I have to make a conscious effort everyday not to self talk myself to death. It gets hard sometimes, and I succumb. But I know I am not the only one, I just have to practice harder at this.
Thanks
Rachel
Hey Rachel, Sorry it took so long to reply. Thank you for the comment and glad you got something out of it. Self talk is the best talk you will ever have with anyone and will make the biggest positive difference in your life, as long as it's positive. : )
