How To Reach Your Full Potential And Eat Your Cake Too.

Can you remember as a small child having all sorts of crazy ambitions?  Do you remember dreaming of all the things you wanted to do with your life?

As we get older, for a lot of us at least, those childhood ambitions get buried in mortgages, car payments, children and downright responsibility.  People for some reason end up going down a road far from where they ever thought they would go down.

Why does this happen?  There are numerous reasons, however we are going to tackle just a few of them.

In talking with a lot of people, I always ask a lot of questions.  The first is “What are your goals?” You would think that people would have some iron-clad goals for themselves, but most dont. Why?  Because they are so busy going absolutely nowhere, they have no idea how to move forward.  They don’t know how to map out a strategy to get what they want out of life.

Having a Game Plan

I have to be honest with you as I am a little biased when it comes to being able to live out your dreams working for someone else as you always know what your pay is going to be every single month and every single year.

For most people, they just keep at it hoping for that next promotion that never comes and before they know it 10 years just went by and those 3% pay raises every year don’t exactly get you any closer to your financial goals.

In times like these, your going to have to step outside your comfort zone and coming up with a new game plan.

If your happy just going two steps forward and two steps back and comfortable with your life then stop reading this right now as this isn’t for you.

This is for the people that know they are capable of much more but have no godly idea of how to live a victorious life.

Your plan needs to start with a vision of how you see your life in the next 5 years (or a very specific time frame).  Once you know where you want to be, you can then backtrack.

You eat an elephant one bite at a time.  It’s the same approach when your building a game plan to your dreams.  You want to figure out what vehicle is going to get you there.  Is it your current job? Great.  Figure out how your going to downsize and simplify your life for the time being to build yourself a nest egg.

Associating with Successful People

To become successful in anything, doesn’t it just make sense to learn from other successful people that have gone before you?   If you study an REALLY successful person in history, you will find that they had a mentor.  They had someone who saw them not for who they were, but for who they could become.

You yourself, cannot see your own blind spots.  You can only coach yourself up to a certain point.  You are going to need the help of a coach.  The only business model in which I know you can get this for free is in the network marketing arena.

You are always going to become the sum total of the 5 people you spend the most time with, period.  It’s been time tested, studied and documented in many books of our time and before.  Be coach-able, learn-able, and teachable.

Learning To Say No

If you fall for everything, you will fall for anything.  Time is the only commodity that cannot be replaced.  You have to learn to guard it with every fiber in your body.

If your ever going to become successful at anything, your going to have to first learn to master yourself (self-mastery).  Part of that is learning to say no to people.  You don’t have to be a jerk about it, just create a calendar and stick by it.  Don’t let people take your time that are wasting it and allot your time in increments to ensure that your getting the most production possible out of it.

Being busy does not equal productivity.  Productivity is when your doing things that are moving you one step closer to your goals.  Checking email, chatting on the phone and playing on Facebook during your work time is not exactly productive so set aside that time accordingly.

Taking Risks

There is never any reward without risk.  To reach your full potential in life, you are going to have to learn how to take risks.  Those who hoard and hold onto everything they have in fear of loss never get anywhere in life, in fact those are the ones that end up living in regret and/or at the poverty level.

There is going to come a point in life in which your going to have to lay everything you have on the line for you to reach your maximum potential.  Yes, it’s going to be uncomfortable.  Yes you might even fail.  Failing is learning.

Did you hear me?  Failure is the best teacher.  Those who have succeeded have failed the most.  When you put yourself out on a limb and you have committed all of your resources ahead of time, you will be fully committed to the task at hand. It’s either feast or famine.  You will work harder than you ever have, sleep less than you ever have and spend more money and resources than you ever have to realize your full potential.

Eating Your Cake

When you finally reach the point in life where you have a serious breakthrough, your going to look back at everything you went through and probably laugh at it.  Your going to hopefully laugh all the way to the bank.  All the people who said you couldn’t do it, vindicated!  All the folks who said no, victorious! Your family who thought you were out of your mind, Well…Come up with your own word for how that’s going to make you feel.

People who do great things with their lives and have a calling to do something against the grain of what society thinks is safe are different.  Normal people who do normal things live normal lives.  Radical people live radical lives and have to do radical things to get there.

Reach the potential, Get Your Cake and hell, pop some cherries and whipped cream on top when your done…….
