Fear=The Killer of Success
High Achievers are always willing to do what they fear.
Fear has got to be the most powerful crippling forces known to mankind. It squeezes, restricts us, tightens us, and causes us to panic, forcing us to abandon all of our dreams, passions and great plans for our life. If we are not willing to do what we fear, then fear, not ourselves is in control of our lives.
The High Achiever cannot afford to surrender his/her life to fear..
Fear is the most common Emotion that we have in society today. Here are The Big 6:
- Rejection or criticism
- Illness
- Old Age
- Fear of the loss of a loved one ~being left alone
- Fear of Death~the foundation of all fear
It’s quite unfortunate that fear is amplified by fear itself. Here is how it works. The more you fear something, the more the fear intensifies and the more paralyzing it becomes. So another way to put it is that worry becomes a self fullfilling prophecy. That which we fear tends to come upon us.
I have to be honest. The older I get, the more I feel that I am fearing sharks in the ocean. Knowing that these thoughts are present, I quickly disperse them and here is why. I know that if I hop into the water to surf for the day that there are going to be some Tiger sharks down there. Those are the only ones to really worry about in the Hawaiian waters, oh and maybe a hammerhead too but mostly Tigers. Sharks pick up on fear, they feel its vibration and attack it because they sense it as weakness. So, I have to train my brain not to fear anything. Its a false emotion and we control every bit of it.
Fear Is A Waste Of Potential
The tragedy of life in America is that most people live quiet lives of desperation. Way too many people go to the grave with songs that were never written, pictures that were never painted, businesses that were never built and hearts that were never gladdened. The sole reason? Fear!
Many had potential to be a high achiever but never broke out of the rut of mediocrity because they were intimidated by fear. High Achievers dont allow fear to cause them to waste away their potential, they face fear head on.
Meet Your Enemy DOUBT: Fears Twin Brother
Doubt absolutely destroys your faith~faith in ourselves and in God. When we doubt, we lose all the power that faith can give to us and it can and will overwhelm us.
Here is what is stinkin sad. We live in an age that worships science. However, the nature of science is such that it causes us to doubt anything that we cant see, hear, smell, taste, or touch. Unfortunately, for many people this creates the kind of doubt that states~”Nothing is valid unless it can be proven scientifically”- That’s Bowl Shit…..
There is very little doubt that I’d rather be living in the 20th century than any other period of history. I mean come on…. Air conditioning, cars, appliances, cell phones, computers. However many of the things that make our life worth living lie beyond the reach of science or technology.
How do you prove love? Courage? Hope? Without these awesome human attitudes and feelings, life for most of us would be absolutely worthless.

It’s ok to be open both to scientific achievement and to realities that we cannot experience with our five senses.
But when spiritual doubt grabs hold of our lives, we become immobile and cannot realize our potential. All high achievements require confidence, the antithesis of doubt and fear.
Fear Makes Us Hang On To False Security
Two Thirds of all middle-aged Americans hate their jobs and wish they could do something else. How many people do you know that are in careers that they dislike, who work for people they dislike, or who work in positions that are way below their capability?
Why do so many people hang on to everything they have? Why don’t they just break loose and become something they have not been? FEAR. That is why they hang on to the false security of steady income, fringe benefits and peer approval. Sad really.
They hate what they do but keep doing it anyways. Now come on folks. That’s insanity. Face the fear of trying something new, something real, something different.
Ok, perhaps your caught in a total rut like this. You have a dream you constantly long to pursue, but you hang on to the security of something solid rather than risk loss. High achievers understand the old saying, “It is better to try something and fail, than to try nothing and succeed.” They’d rather take the risk of possible loss and personal agony than live with the certain misery and sense of desperation..
Fear Wastes our Precious Energy
It is a very common misconception that hard work is the most exhausting human activity. The greastest energy-zapper is emotional fatigue. The Greatest source of emotional fatigue is anxiety.
You know the people..They show up after a weekend on a Monday looking beat down from the weekend. They should be fully rested but instead they are tired, listless and irritable.
High Achievers have learned that fear wears them out completely and they cant afford it. Therefor they dont pay fear its bounty on them. They control fear rather than fear controlling them.
Meet Pessimistic~Fears Twin Sister
When I listen to some people talk, you would think that no one around them does anything right. However, if you get behind their critical masks, you will discover that they also feel that way about themselves. They have become so intimidated by their own feelings of inferiority that they are unable to see the good in anybody.
Fear Makes us very suspicious of others, overly critical of ourselves and pessimistic. It’s totally foolish to believe that you can raise yourself up while tearing the achievement of others down. Folks, it never works. Why not overcome the fear that causes you to be so defensive and join the ranks within your rightful place among the high achievers of the world.
We Cannot Escape Fear
You may try to hide from fear but it always finds you. Some try hiding behind a bottle of booze, for others its an 8 ball of cocaine or a hit of MDMA or Acid. But the reality is, when the drug wears off, fear is right there waiting and now its even worse because your seratonin levels are even lower and your even more depressed than before your little party. Attempts to escape fear are unrealistic-wherever you go, fear will follow.
Overcome Your Fear By Facing It Head On
When I was about nine years old, I started to learn how to surf. I didnt learn on little ripple waves, I learned in humongo waves at a place on the North shore of Maui called Hookipa—————–>
Sometimes I would paddle out and never get past the break because I got pounded and almost drowned by waves 5 times my height. Was I scared? Hell yes, every time I paddled out. But here is what happened. Over time, I faced my fears of the waves, the sharks below and the sharp jagged reef that I got slammmed into everytime I wiped out.
I then graduated from surfing here as a little kid to surfing some of the more advanced spots on the island like Maalaea bay and Honolua bay. Faith overcomes fear every time.
Fear Is Bowl Shit
Most of our fears are false and psychologists say that worrying about them is unecessary. The following is a reliable breakdown of the time that people spend on worries:
- Things that will never happen…………….40%
- Things that are in the past………………….30%
- Needless concerns about one’s health….12%
- Petty and Misc. cares………………………..10%
- Real Concerns…………………………………..5%
Of the 8 percent of worries that are real and legit, half are things we can do nothing about. By taking positive steps we can eliminate 2 percent of the real dangers we face.  It then makes sense to be concerned with 2 percent of things we worry about. Understand the dynamics and whip fears ass.
Your Plan To Overcome Fear
What fears are holding you back from your greatest accomplishments ever? What great and awesome goals might you attempt to reach, had you no fear. True motivation can only be achieved when fear is replaced. But replaced with what?
Fear needs to be replaced with confidence. It comes from the latin phrase con fideo, meaning “with faith.” Fear is replaced with faith- faith in who you are, faith in your life’s purpose, faith in where you are going. Don’t be afraid to get yourself out of the rut and to take big risk.
Make a list of all the things your afraid to do, then go and make yourself do all of them. Each time you confront fear, be aware of the atmosphere surrounding it. Keep your senses on alert at all times. Ward off all intimidation.
DO WHAT YOU FEAR AND YOU WILL OVERCOME IT!!!
