Why Responsibility and Honesty Go Hand And Hand In The Home Business Industry.

honestyI don’t know about you, but honesty, integrity, accountability and responsibility are extremely high on my list of characteristics that I not only strive for, but look for in people that are going to be in my life.

In the home business industry, especially online, you will find all sorts of characters out there.  There are people who provide lots of value and have awesome products and then there are the um, well let’s just say less tasteful people pushing their cheesy products and service just to make a quick buck. Oh, by the way, those folks have short term success as their business models are unsustainable.

Anyways, somewhere along the line, you are going to have to take responsibility for where you are.

Responsibility

Responsibility is one of those things that we are not born with.  I can honestly say that up until just a few years ago, I had been extremely irresponsible in just about every aspect of my life.  It wasn’t really taught to me growing up as I had a lot and I mean a lot handed to men over the years.  5 years of college and partying-paid for. 5 vehicles -paid in full. Rent-check, vacations and spending money-check.

Anyway, when I got out of college, all that changed.  I was cut off and though still irresponsible, I got a job in my field and started my “career”. While I was responsible at work, as soon as I left, it all went out the door.  Rampid spending. If it felt good, I did it.  I am sure you can relate.

Then came marriage to my beautiful wife Pamela and my first daughter Hannah came along.  You would think at this point I was a little more responsible right?  Nope.  In fact I was very selfish and self centered in a lot of ways.  It was still all about me.  Then my second daughter Kaylee came. You would think it would kick in then right?  Nope.

In fact years went by and I was in my early thirties still acting like a college frat boy. Grow up right?

Finally, something kicked in.  Call it the holy ghost, call it fate.  Something almost overnight changed for me.  It’s like I woke up and my life was somehow different.  I had been a smoker, drinker, pot smoker and dabbled with some harder stuff too.  All of the sudden, I quit smoking, drinking and drugging and I was a new me.  I knew I couldn’t make up lost time with my wife and kids, however, that day was a new day and the first day of the rest of my life.

I took full responsibility for everything I had done up until that point in my life.  The $50K in debt, the bankruptcy, and other horrible things I put my wife through.

Anyway, I tell you this because today, I have money in the bank, no debt other than my house and 1 car loan which I just took out last summer to buy my wife an SUV (It’s so sweet by the way!). I have a thriving internet business and have some other ventures that bring in money as well. You could say I am a changed man.  I get to spend every day with my wife at home. I see my girls get up in the morning, I pack them lunches, I can go eat with them at their school. I see them get off the bus and spend every night hanging out and creating memories with them.

Some life right?  And it just keeps getting better and better.

Why?

Decisions and taking responsibility.

You see, here is what most people do.  They blame others for their shortcomings.  It’s so and so’s fault I am in this position.  So and so robbed me of all my money or I got jipped on a big deal.

Whatever it is, you need to get past the past and move on!

Your future is up to you. No one is going to hand anything to you,nor does anyone owe you jack squat.  I don’t care if your waiting for your Uncle Benny to pay you $10K he borrowed from you 3 years ago.  You need to stop waiting and move the hell on.

Ok. moving on.

Honesty

Honesty is something that is few and far between, especially online.

People think that if they don’t say or somehow fake that they are successful, that people won’t want to join their team or buy their stuff. That couldn’t be farther from the truth.

If you think that you are fooling people online by creating fake income claims or taking pictures in fancy cars, by big boats or big homes, your kidding yourself.  People can see right through you.

Here is a huge TIP.

Just be YOU!  Yea, that’s right, just be yourself.  There are people out there looking for a leader.  You are their leader, however you have to believe that and stop lying to yourself and others about who you really are.  There is only one you in this world and your special and have talents and gifts that no one else has, no one!

In the home business and internet business arena, you have to be very transparent with your marketing and who you are.  Be an open book for folks to read and you will attract those people who you are meant to work with.  It’s called attraction marketing.  You will attract like kind.  Be an asshole and you will attract assholes.  Be an awesome person and you will attract awesome people.

This industry is not just about making money either and I think people get it all wrong.  Take your eyes off of the immediate fire in your life and turn your attention to other people.  Start serving other people and you will see great things happen to you and your business.

Novel concept, eh?

Ok, this was more of a rant than anything. Sometimes the truth needs to be told. If it ruffles some feathers, awesome. That was my intention.

All The Best,
