One of the things I love about being a dad is doing awesome stuff with my kids.  Being that Kaylee’s birthday is coming up this week and she had a pass to go indoor Rockclimbing at Extreme Rockclimbing in Suwanee, Georgia, we decided to make a Saturday of it.  She was one of the best climbers in the whole place, other then the instructors and had an absolute blast.

I got a call last Friday from Chris Barany out of the PRO office and he said that I had been chosen to be January’s spotlight member of the month. It was definitely a surprise.

You see, when you do the right things, the right things happen and you get exposure.  Most people are afraid to put themselves out there and those are the same people who constantly complain about how broke they are and how their life stinks.  Yet, they are unwilling to do anything about it.

It’s when you truly decide that you want change and your willing to put your work ethic where your mouth and mind go, you will start to see change and success in your life.

Fear and doubt are what stop most people.

Fear that it won’t work for them.

Fear that they don’t have enough money.

Fear that the money they do have will be gone.

Fear of what other people will think of them.

All of these “FALSE” thoughts are killing you and your future.

They will take you out if you let them.

Leaders, however are different.

They don’t give a rip what others think.

They do what most people are not willing to do for a long enough time to succeed.  The game of life is played one moment at a time and the difference between those who succeed and those who don’t are the little things that they do every moment, hour, day, week and month.

Everything adds up and over the course of time is compounded.

Compounded effort is the bomb that will explode your results in 2012 and beyond.

Getting recognized is nice, however one thing I learned is never to let it get to your head.  It only means that your level of responsibility has gone up.  It means that the gauntlet has been laid down and it’s time for you to take it to the next level.

I never get comfortable where I am, in fact, I want to be uncomfortable.

When I get comfy, here is what happens.

I stop producing, start kicking back and I get lazy.  Guess what happens next. Well, it is the reverse of a country song played backwards.  Everything starts slipping away and negative momentum kicks in.

NO THANK YOU!

I prefer to do the little things every day and get where I want to go over time.  Sooner then later of course.

Have you even thought about how your doing things at this point in your life to get where you want to go?  Do you have the right vehicle to get you there?  Do you even have a vehicle?

The bottom line is taking responsibility for where you are up until this point and flipping the switch.

Your probably like, “Huh? Flip the switch?”

Yep, that’s what happens when people draw the line in the sand and say, “I am sick and tired of being sick and tired,” and they flip the switch of change on.

Your Internet Business In 2012

What does it look like?  Today I am going to go over 5 ways to reach your goals in 2012.  Let’s face it, if you didn’t reach your goals in 2011, you must do some things differently.  If you do the same thing you did last year, you’ll produce the same results, right?  So let’s switch gears.

Get In the Gym

I see a lot of people my age (39) that look a lot older.  They have beer bellies, wrinkles and quite honestly look like they are 50.  Life can be hard on one’s body if you don’t pay attention to it.  You have to have balance in life.  For those of you who say you don’t have enough time to workout, I think your full of it.  You just need to re-arrange your schedule and make it a priority.

Do you stop for a beer after work at your favorite watering hole?

Do you wake up in the morning with just enough time to shower, get dressed and hit the road?

Try waking up earlier in the morning, like at 4:30 and making it a point to go to the gym.  In fact, get into a group fitness class in the morning, that way your held accountable to be there.  If you simply can’t make it in the morning, forget about the beer stop after work and hit the gym.  You see, it’s all about priorities.

You can’t be a slacker to your body and expect to live a long healthy life.  What is the sense of working yourself half to death and your body checks out at 55 years old because you decided to neglect it.  Get in the gym and your internet business will thank you for it ; ).

Work More On Yourself Then You Do On Your Business

People wonder why years go by and they are no further along today then they were when they first got started in business.  One of the reasons is your reading program sucks or is non-existent.  Leaders are readers and if your idea of reading is picking up the newspaper or a magazine, your not growing, your just filling your mind with mostly useless information.

Pick yourself up some personal development books and start a reading program of a minimum of 30 minutes a day.  EVERY successful person I know is an avid reader and constantly working on their self esteem, attitude and being a blessing to more people that come across their path.  If you think that your going to slide on through to success home plate without reading, your chances are slim.

Your Internet Business Deserves It!

Plan Your Work and Work Your Plan

Having a plan and your goals in place is extremely important.  How do you know where to go if you have not mapped it out and laid the path?  I suggest having a 30-90-180 and 360 day goals set for your internet business.  When setting your goals, be as specific as possible and then stick to the daily tasks you know are necessary to bring those goals to fruition.

Do 30 Day Bursts Of Serious Activity

I have to admit that I can only go hard for so long.  30 days is the most I have gone in an all out battle to produce the most results in the shortest period of time without losing focus or momentum.  Right around 30 days I let off the gas slightly to recharge.

I think most people take a look at the big picture and all the work they have to do and it seems overwhelming.  I understand.

Realize that once you create momentum and get the ball rolling, it doesn’t take as much effort anymore to keep the ball rolling.  If you create momentum right the first time, you never have to go back to it.  What most people do is they do just enough work to make it an inconvenience, get a little momentum going and then back off the gas.

What happens is, they keep having to do the hard work over and over again to get the ball rolling and eventually they quit.  Not a way to build your internet business.

Don’t Ever Quit

Winners never quit.  It’s just not an option.  People quit because they are lazy and comfortable.  In order to create a new life and new results in your life and business, you have to do what I call, “move out the old furniture.”  Let me explain.

Remember back in college, you had all kinds of mix and match furniture, some maybe made out of milk crates or wood and nails?  Well let’s just say that’s your mind.  You get used to living like that after a few years.  It’s just normal.  Then one day you decide it’s time for change. I tell you that in order for us to move in new furniture, we have to get rid of the old.

What most people do is they will store their old stuff in the basement.  You feel better because the old ratty furniture is gone, however. If you don’t replace it with new furniture, you’ll start to move the old stuff back in.  Piece by piece and before you know it, your right back where you started.

You’ll quit if you don’t reprogram yourself for success.

What’s Your Facebook Success Rate?

Everyone knows that in today’s day and time, Facebook is king.  It’s got 1/6th of the worlds population using it’s platform.  That is huge.  For a lot of people, it’s become a place to connect with friends, share photos or play games like Farmville, Mob wars or Castleville.  Zynga has done a great job in producing some of the most played games online.

For others, Facebook is a place where commerce takes place.  Celebrities, NFL Players and fortune 100 companies use Facebook’s platform to connect with their fan base and customers. All of them have different styles of marketing or connecting on Facebook.  Fan Pages have become websites within Facebook.  Fanpages can be used to develop a database of your prospects and communicate and collaborate with them as well.

Companies are also using Facebook’s ad platform as well.  Being that there is a huge demographic profiling within Facebook’s database, it makes it easy to niche down on your target market. Lastly posting to your wall frequently and providing people with value will ultimately produce a loyal following.

Facebook Success Principle 1

Have an awesome Fan Page.  Take the time and work with a designer to put together a Fan Page that represents you or your company.  Put together an offer in exchange for people’s information.  Give away your best stuff and develop a loyal following.  You can find awesome designers on either Elance.com or Odesk.com.  Personally I like Odesk. Once you have your Fan Page set up, you can then start driving traffic to it using Facebook’s ad platform.

Facebook Success Principle 2

Set up an advertising account. Today, I believe that Facebook has a more robust advertising platform then Google.  In fact, I would argue that Facebook is today what Google Adwords was two years ago.  Think about it.

Your whole target audience is on Facebook.  Using their ad platform, you can find your target audience and put an offer right in front of them.  It’s almost like giving a kid candy.  You know what they like and serve it up!

Facebook Success Principle 3

Post valuable content on your wall frequently. Use your wall as a means to communicate with your following.  Your wall should be an extension of you and your classroom.  Be a source for knowledge and education.  Bring to your audience cutting edge information and they will love you for it.

Everyone is looking for something, find out what your audience is looking for or struggling with and simply provide the solutions.  You become the trusted advisor and ultimately people will want to do business with you.

Having success on Facebook is what most business owners dream about.  With the info I have just given you above, you can turn that dream into reality.

Things I am grateful for in 2011

So this year has been a whirlwind of fun. I have gotten to go to Las Vegas twice, Arizona and the Bahamas.  I am grateful that I manifested the resources to do most of the things I set out to do this year.  At the end of every year, I like to take a step back and look at the triumphs as well as losses and take an inventory of my life, relationships, etc.

I am grateful for my family

The cornerstone of everything I do in life is for the benefit of my wife Pamela and my two daughters Kaylee and Hannah.  Without their love, understanding, patience and gentleness, I could not have come as far as I have.  The older I get the more I realize just how precious time is.  It’s the only thing in life that cannot be replaced.  Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

While I have no regrets, I wish I had taken more time to enjoy the younger years with my girls and my wife.  I sometimes feel like I missed out on a lot of opportunity to create memories with them.  I now realize that while I missed the opportunities back then, I now have full control of creating memories from here on out.

I am grateful for my health.

I think that one of the greatest tragedies in life is when a person works their whole life trying to create their dream life and sacrifice their health during the process.  I take a look around at all of the overweight people in this country and quite honestly it’s sickening.

I have taken the liberty of putting my health at the forefront of my daily routine.  I started this over two years ago after waking up one day realizing that I was 15 pounds heavier then I should be.  Needless to say, I got busy and created a 6 day a week habit.  All it takes is a decision to do so.  People who say they don’t have enough time are full of it and that is the story they are telling themselves.

First let me start out with the fact that Pain and uncomfortableness is a powerful motivator.  It has always helped me to accomplish more with less and allow me to fully tap into my full creativity.

While most people think that I make a full time living online, it’s not the case.  I supplement my lifestyle with the money I make online and you know what?  It’s been pretty darn good to me over the past few years.  Anyway, back to the story.

Two or three times a year, my primary company has a few live events.  They are always in top notch destinations like Las Vegas, Arizona and most recently, The Bahamas.  Needless to say, it takes some planning.

I have two daughters, 8 and 11.  We have no family where we live here in Georgia so in order for my wife Pamela and I to get to a function, we have to pay someone for the 4 or 5 days we are gone plus airfare, hotel, food, partying, etc.  It’s not cheap.

Normally it’s not a problem, however this year I noticed the Dec. 2nd trip to the Bahamas for 5 days approaching quickly and I didn’t have all the money together I knew I was going to need to not have to worry about money while there (in another country).

I started planning for this trip way back in October.  So anyway, I started thinking about how to deliver something to the marketplace that would pay me in direct proportion to what was delivered and so….

….Craigslist Domination was born.

You see, I had been generating tons of free leads on Craigslist forever.  I had a system down pat.

So, I thought, why not just create a course that would teach people step by step how to do exactly what I was doing.  And that is exactly what I did.  I didn’t know exactly how it was going to shape up.  I had no clue as to what kind of media to deliver it on either.

Being that I have been comfortable making videos for the past few years I thought, why not just create a video series and for those who want to read the course, I created an Ebook.

Once I produced all of the contents of the course, I then had to figure out where to host the videos, how to build the funnel, write the follow up emails, etc.

Through the process of just taking action, I figured it all out along the way. That in itself is a huge lesson you can take away and put to use yourself.

Most people spend 95% of their time reading, trying to get everything perfect before they begin and if they only switched that around, they would get results a lot quicker.

Did I make a bunch of mistakes?

You betcha!  I had to go back and re-record videos, edit them, upload them.  A few times I accidently erased a module.  I just kept going though until it was done.

Now for the good part.

Remember, I put this all together because I needed a quick surge of cash.

I ended up joint venturing with a few of my friends that had hungry lists for this type of product, hosted a webinar with them and offered them the product.  Guess what?  Instant MULA!  In 37 minutes we made about $1500 or so and over the next few days a few hundred more.  Then I did it again with another friend and make another $1900. I now had exactly what I needed for my Bahamas trip.  In fact, this one product paid for the whole thing.

So, next time you are feeling backed in a corner, sorry for yourself, etc..  Realize that you have everything within you that you need to succeed.  You just have to get busy like your life depends on it, cause it DOES!

So you want to know how to make a product to sell online.  For most people, when they think about products, they think physical, touchable products, right?  Well on the internet, if your not a company that manufactures products, you best be good at creating valuable information products that solve problems people have.

Being that I just created my first info product and went through the process of making my first product to sell online, I can now talk about the process.  There are only a few simple steps to creating the actual product itself.  I would say that the hardest part about the whole thing was figuring out how I was going to deliver it to the market.

Ok, so let me break it down in stages here so you get the full gist of what I did and how I executed this baby.

Step 1 – You must have a product that solves a problem

There are many niches out there, so narrow down your niche (the market your going after).  For me, it is Internet Marketers (Other folks looking to sell their stuff online).  You want to create an Avatar of the person who would want your product and what problems they face.  Your product needs to tap into their emotional need for a solution to their immediate problem.   Immediate problems need quick solutions.  See where I am going?

Step 2 – Decide how you are going to deliver the product

There are many ways to deliver digital products.  You can do it through video, E-books, Mp3′s or whatever.  This will determine what your going to need for your project.  For me, I knew that I was going to deliver my product via video.  It was comfortable for me and I have produced over 600 videos over the past 3 years so It naturally a fit to deliver my product in that format.  I also created an Ebook.

People learn in many different ways. Some like to watch video, others like text, etc.. etc..

What I did was create a step by step E-book with the same content as the videos with screen capture clips in the book guiding people through the course step by step.  Here is the best part. I offered it as a bonus for purchasing the course within a certain time frame.

Step 3 – Getting Busy

I have to tell you that the thought of creating my own product had been rattling through my head for over 6 months.  I just didn’t think I had the technical skills to make my own product and then be able to turn around and sell it.

But wait!

I’m a damn good Internet marketer right? (I’m just taking you inside my head now.)

I have heard over and over again from leader after leader over the past 10 years.  “You have EVERYTHING you need to succeed in life at any level your willing to work for.”

Here is what is all comes down to….

……Belief in yourself that you can do whatever you set your mind to.

Here is what I did.

I got committed, I mean real committed.

I literally was in front of my Mac for 3 days straight putting my first course together.

Creating Content

Creating an irresistible offer

Designing a Sales Page

Creating a shopping cart so people could buy it.

Creating an auto-responder series

Learning

Growing

and getting totally outside my comfort zone.

Guess what?

I did it.

I stopped making excuses as to why I couldn’t make my own product and decided to make it happen.

Step 4- Marketing your Product

Ok, now the product was done, now what?  Well after studying some pretty super star marketers and how they launched products, I used just bits and pieces of what I learned.

I have a list of close to 3000 people that have subscribed to my stuff over the past few years.  Not a huge list but I have developed a relationship with them over time. They know, like and trust me.  So what I did was sent a broadcast to them letting them know that I was releasing a product that would enable them to generate 100% FREE bonafide leads.

And….

I was only releasing 100 copies of the course and if they wanted a shot to own it, they had to get on a waiting list.

Guess what?

I had a bunch of people get on that waiting list.

Hint: These are your hungry buyers.

I then early released the opportunity for them to buy the product now before I released it to others.

Guess what?

$750 in like 2 hours in the bank.

That’s nothing, it gets better.

Then I start talking to some other Internet Marketers about my product and they want to market

it to their list.

Long story short, I did a quick webinar that lasted 37 minutes and…….

………….We banked close to $2k in a night.

You do the math.

$2k divided by $37 minutes.

Generating leads on the internet can be one of the most frustrating aspects of Internet Marketing for people who are just getting started.  There are many ways to generate leads online, both paid and for free.

What you lack in money to put towards lead generation you will make up in time, trust me, I know.  What you lack in time, you can make up with a solid advertising budget.  let me explain.

I know a ton of people that generate content (Articles, blog posts, Press Releases and videos) to create traffic and leads.  What any of them will tell you is that it’s EXTREMELY time consuming to produce this kind of content on a scale that is going to produce enough leads to feed their business.

The other challenge is, you need to have the right tools.  You can’t just write about anything, make videos about everything and expect people to find your content.  Your content needs to solve your prospects problems.  It needs to be informative.  People don’t like a sales pitch and this is where most newbies go wrong.

They are so fired up about their product or service that they think everyone will be fired up about it.  Truth is, no one really gives a rip about it.  Your product doesn’t solve problems, people do!

Internet Lead Generation is best done via paid advertising.  Whether that be PPC, PPV, Solo-ads, Banner ads or whatever, it’s the quickest way to generate leads online.  It’s also allows you more time to concentrate on getting that traffic to convert even better by split testing.  When your spending all of your time producing time consuming content to drive traffic, there isn’t much time for much else.

There is an exception to this rule though.

I have found a honey hole of traffic that I get for Zilch and have generated thousands of leads through it and put thousands in my pockets because of it.  I spent over 2 years learning how to generate leads through this source and have actually put together a course showing you step by step, exactly how to set yourself up with a system that you can literally spend 20-30 minutes a day on and produce anywhere from 5-25 leads a day from.

Craigslist Domination – Free Leads on Craigslist

I simply spend a few minutes of day posting on Craigslist using my system and spend the rest of my time talking to my leads on the phone and placing ads using paid traffic techniques.

I see a lot of people getting stuck because they complicate Internet Lead Generation.  While it can be tricky, anyone can learn to generate leads online.  It just takes the decision that your going to commit yourself to making it work no matter how long it takes.

One more thing.  Stop looking for results on a daily basis.  You need data to determine whether something is producing for you and that data needs to be pulled over the course of time.

Just the title alone rings a little curiosity doesn’t it?  You want to know what those three mistakes people make in the Internet marketing industry are?

And for good reason.

Very few people make a full time living in the network marketing industry, “as a whole”.   Reason being?

People are chasing dollar bills instead of knowledge.

Your probably wondering what I am talking about.  Well, this industry attracts people into it based on their emotions.  There was something about this industry that they heard about that was appealing to them. Perhaps it’s leverage, money, power, change of pace or even fame and fortune or should I say the possibility of all of those?

Remember, people move towards pleasure and away from pain.

There is something going on in their life that is the root cause of them looking outside of their current situation to find a solution to their problem.

I love people who think outside the box and are humble enough to come to this industry and find an opportunity to change their life. Most people get in and want to do things their way.

Ok, so what are the 2 mistakes?

People who get into Internet marketing know nothing about marketing.  This industry is full of people in desperate need of direction.

Mistake #1. Not Investing In Yourself

If you went to college, you did so for a number of reasons.  Regardless of them, college is supposed to prepare you to get job.  You invest 2-4 years and professors and books invest those years back in you.  The cost?  $10K-$300k depending on where you go to school.

I am going to assume you had a major in school that you picked as you wanted to get into that field after school, right?

Ok, so you did that for a while and it worked……… For a bit.

But now, your looking to get into Internet Marketing but lack the skills necessary to become successful at it.  Guess What?

Back to school.

Your going to have to start investing in you again, except it’s going to be in courses and tools you will need in order to become successful in making a living online.  The only difference between what college and learning how to make money online is that your going to earn while you learn.

No more broke college days.

When you learn how to market online, you will be able to learn something and put it into real world action to create real world results!  That’s powerful.

Mistake #2. Giving Up Too Soon

If you quit your job, do you make it?  No right?  So why is it any different in business.  Way too many people get started in this industry, “give it a whirl” and then either quit and talk smack about how it’s a “Scam” or come up with some sappy story on how it didn’t work for them.

What I know is this. People are inherently lazy.  It comes from working a job and having someone tell you what to do and having a “job description”.  In this world, we don’t have that.  What it comes down to is taking charge of your situation, working the system and making things happen, without a boss breathing down your throat.

People quit too soon because of a number of reasons.

• It’s too hard
• It takes too much time out of my schedule (Hello, this is work and work takes time).  Oh, I forgot. It’s a hobby for you. : )
• It’s too expensive. (No, it’s called investing in your business).  Expensive is paying tolls everyday to get to and from work.
• It’s saturated.  (Are you kidding me, 3 billion people around the world with internet access.) NEXT!

Whatever the excuse, I have heard them all before.  The bottom line is, you cant keep a quitter from quitting and you can’t keep a winner from winning.

Mistake#3. Treating Your Business Like a Hobby

Most people build their business just enough to make it an inconvenience.  They also fool themselves into thinking that they are doing everything possible to build their business, however when taking a closer look, they are just busy, not productive.

Businesses need capital to start and a budget to run.

In order to grow a successful business, your going to need to put in the time to gain momentum and then follow that up with some serious work ethic for a period of time.

Alot of people don’t even set goals for themselves.  No wonder they never hit the mark, they never aim!

In closing, don’t make these three mistakes to ensure your success in the Internet Marketing Industry.
