    The Truth About Internet Lead Generation

    Generating leads on the internet can be one of the most frustrating aspects of Internet Marketing for people who are just getting started.  There are many ways to generate leads online, both paid and for free.

    What you lack in money to put towards lead generation you will make up in time, trust me, I know.  What you lack in time, you can make up with a solid advertising budget.  let me explain.

    I know a ton of people that generate content (Articles, blog posts, Press Releases and videos) to create traffic and leads.  What any of them will tell you is that it’s EXTREMELY time consuming to produce this kind of content on a scale that is going to produce enough leads to feed their business.

    The other challenge is, you need to have the right tools.  You can’t just write about anything, make videos about everything and expect people to find your content.  Your content needs to solve your prospects problems.  It needs to be informative.  People don’t like a sales pitch and this is where most newbies go wrong.

    They are so fired up about their product or service that they think everyone will be fired up about it.  Truth is, no one really gives a rip about it.  Your product doesn’t solve problems, people do!

    Most MLM’ers or Network Marketers are so concerned with generating leads that they forget about the most important part of the business.  How do I know this is the case?  Because that was me.  I had no idea what closing was.  It’s a skill that has to be developed.

    The Art of Network Marketing Lead Generation

    Generating leads in your network marketing business is crucial to your long term success in the industry or any industry for that matter.

    Over the years you probably have done some pretty crazy things to generate leads.  Most likely you have done everything from cold calling people in the phone book, leaving business cards in the self help books in the local bookstore, engaging in conversations with anyone with a heartbeat, attending every community social gathering, etc…etc…

    While some of those methods might have worked, I am sure it was always short term and you found yourself having to consistently do the work to keep the leads coming in.  Over the course of time, it gets cumbersome and something has got to give.

    It wasn’t until I learned how to leverage systems that allowed me to multiply my efforts, that I saw a huge change in my productivity as well as growth in business.

    Is Your Network Marketing Lead Generation Up To Par?

    There are many ways to generate leads in your network marketing business.  Some hold on to traditional techniques as this is what they are comfortable doing.  Is there anything wrong with it? Nope.  It all depends on what kind of momentum you want to have in your business and how fast you want to grow your organization.

    I have built my business both ways.  I used to spend every spare moment I had in what I call “contact mode”. I was always talking to people everywhere I went. I simply started conversations and looked to find out a few things about a person. I wanted to know if they were happy doing what they were doing for a living, if they were making all of the money they wanted and living the life they wanted.  I would guide them down a path in a conversation to find out what made them tick.

    Did I have success using these techniques?  I had some success, but could never create enough momentum, nor have others duplicate what I was doing to build my list of potential business partners.  I learned a lot about people during this portion of my life. Mostly, I realized that most folks were comfortable doing what they were doing, or, were afraid and skeptical about starting a new venture in which they were unfamiliar.

    The #1 problem that network marketers face is lack of quality leads. The big myth is, “If I can just generate more traffic to my website it will solve my business problems”.

    This couldn’t be farther from the truth.  The fact is, traffic is easy to generate. With all of the marketing methods we have today on the web, there are tons of venue’s to advertise with, traffic is easy to come by.

    The question that network marketers should be asking but don’t is….Drum Roll Please… What do I do with that traffic once it gets to me?

    There are several factors that marketers forget about, especially when getting started and this  is critical.  Before you even turn on a source of traffic, you need to make sure that your positioned and have branded yourself online.

    I contemplated whether I would even share this with my readers but I figured what why not.

    What are most online marketers lacking? Well that’s easy.. Traffic to their websites. I struggled with this for months when I first put my blog up.

    Over the course of time I found a system that not only drives traffic, it increases your websites page rank as well as traffic value. In other words-Google starts to pay attention and rank you which is a really good thing.

    I have to tell you though.  You don’t want to drive traffic to a crappy website if you ever plan on having long term success on the internet.  There is plenty of competition and if your site doesn’t stand out, people will quickly leave and check out some one else.

    So step #1 – You want to have a professionally done site.  You are going to have to invest in you and your branding/positioning.  This is the biggest thing I see people miss.  They get online and have no credibility so the only way to stand out is to earn trust. It’s all about how you position yourself.

    There tons of ways to generate internet leads for your business.  I am going to go over what I feel to be the top 7.

    I woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat after waking from a dream about how all of my traffic (leads) had disappeared.  Why?  I had gotten away from the basics and was marketing using some played out tactics that no longer worked.

    In today’s day and age, you need to use a variety of marketing methods.  Get really good at mastering 2 of them.  Notice I said 2 not seven.  To find the two, you are going to have to use 7 to see which ones generate the most leads and traffic.
