Social Media isn’t dead but boy can it be deadly!

I love social media. And I love trying and testing new stuff. If there’s some new social media tool, website, or community, I’ll be one of the first ones to try it out.

But there is a limit. And I think we need to be careful. Because social media is like a drug. It can become dangerously addictive. It can even kill your business.

Social media seems to be the current fad. Everybody’s in on it like it’s one big cocktail party you just don’t want to leave.

But the way social media is currently being touted, hyped up, and used (or should I say, abused), is reminiscent of something that happened way back in the 90s.

Great Dreams~Bad Strategy

Let’s take a Look at the great dreams people have and then the typical strategies that people use to try and make those dreams come true.

People dream of lowering their stress levels right?  So what strategy do most people do to chill out in the evening?  They sit in front of the boob tube for 4 hours a night and snack on junk food.  Awesome dream, bad strategy.

People often dream of retiring early with tons of money in the bank to travel and do what they want.  Let’s take a look  at the strategy millions of people are using to become financially independant.  They go and buy several hundred dollars of lottery tickets every month.  Great dream, however, bad strategy.

Folks dream of calling their own plays in life and making their own decisions right?  So what do most people do to become financially independant and free?  They trade their time and talents for a stupid 9-5 job that helps the company’s owners build their dream of freedom.  Great Dream, Aweful Strategy.
